Yup thats them Goody. Have had Sato bits in the past and have been great, dont really see much of their stuff here, can be tricky to get hold of sometimes.
Don't fit this rubbish to your bike , the fairing works as a far better ski than stuff mounted to the far more expensive to replace engine . Dropped my pani twice now on track (both times 55mph + ) with ducati engine protectors (GB racing stuff is also very good) . Very , very little damage . Don't fit crash bobbins as they cause far more damage than letting the bike slide . I have a bent hypermotard frame and cracked engine cases as testament to the usefulness of crash mushrooms . How many race bikes run crash protection like this ?
I like the look of them but I wonder if the right side bobbin would impact onto the clutch cover and the left into the suspension linkage and all that gubbins, plus, because they are mounted low, would it cause the bike to pivot over towards the handle bars, tank and tail unit. True but then its added weight, they prob have the money to replace and if the rider does let go it may have totaled the bike or the gravel would do damage that no protection could protect. Iv crashed bikes with and without and apart from the write offs, there is a marked difference between the damage with compared to without. Iv got everything I can put on it regards to crash protection save for these and R+G stick ons. It would be nice to know how these have faired in a drop, and not just a blunder from standing Think Im gonna sit on the fence for a while with these. And besides, if any of us do crash the insurance will prob write it off and replace.
Had a lowside on the hm last fall which was fixed via insurance, but my thought was that should it happen again, crash sliders would take the larger part of the damage and potentially allow me to not go via insurance. Also, if it happens on the track, i would guess insurance would not cover, but the rules seem to vary here... Races obviously not covered though, but thats not an issue for me
After speaking with someone in the know and hearing horror stories of bent/broken frames from crash bungs that would of only been damaged panels without them, I had the GB Racing engine protection kit fitted to my bike.
This discussion goes round and round with mixed views. I have binned a few bikes with and without bungs, and I myself am a convert to liking them. Not everyone will agree, and thats fine. I just want know if you did want to fit bungs to this bike, which are good'uns?
Sliders or not is always a debate. The thing with a lot of slider kits is how they are mounted. Looking at the Sato, I reckon there'd be considerable damage to the motor from how they're mounted. The RHS looks to be mounting into both cylinder heads. Both sides look to be mounting off M6 screws.....there's a fair chance these will bend or simply pull out the thread..... The Pani is a difficult one to protect and I agree with Bungle that case protectors are probably the safest bet......
Fair comment Nelly, looks like they should mount on something more substantial rather than the thin case walls.
