  1. Yep - im looking forward to it - my dad passed away 5 years ago...i bought my 2 brothers out for the bike (i couldnt let it go) - its now MOT exempt and i think tax exempt which will make it cheaper to own - the plan is, is to get it up together and take it out for a run now and again to get the engine turned over - its only got a few thousand on the clock so the odd trip out now and again wont make any difference to it...

  2. WD40 is shite for soaking stuck on stuff. Use DeGrip or similar.

  3. I've heard Plus Gas is good to but never used as DeGrip works so well.

  4. Ok - so, the bad news from the engine builder is that the main bearings and crank come to 694 quid....he reckons if the mains have gone (and they were just replaced) the crank will go not long after....

Into new engine territory now...found one from a 2018 bike on ebay for 450 quid delivered....looks like our best bet at the moment...

  5. Have you tried David Silver for the spares? He built his business on buying dead stock from dealers all over the world and often has parts at reasonable prices - he used to concentrate on the older models, but always worth a call as you never know what he has in

  9. +1 for David Silver for the older Honda also sign up with CMSNL - get the part numbers for the parts you need and get added to your watch lists —amazing how soon parts sometimes become available

For the CB- can you not get a Chinese engine or internals ? Plenty of them around and usually swappable

  10. Didny know they existed but then you're into cheap Chinese instead of trusted oem...

  11. That’s making a bit of shite dent in the £500 budget isn’t it :(. The young lad will be asking for a pay rise soon ;)

  12. The bike is actually a cbf 125 right? I used to own a Lexmoto Michigan briefly when my KTM decided to eat it's piston, it's built in the same factory as the CBF 125 and uses effectively the same engine, same bore x stroke (just different branded/style cases + uses a carb AFAIK). I put a 180cc big bore kit from a cbf 125 on it and it worked fine :upyeah:

You can find parts for the Michigan here, they're pretty cheap: https://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/search.php?manufacturer=Lexmoto&model=ZS125-79&year=All Years&pageno=1&pagesize=15&category=3041

  13. +1 for cheap Chinese shit. Generally the only thing different is the branding!

  14. I thought it was a CBF 125 from the fairing parts visible in the early pics

With so much Honda tooling sold to China and China being one of the world's main workshops and manufacturers of almost everything for every marketplace around the globe, referring to everything from China as shit begins to sound like an echo of 'Jap Crap' that was heard in the 70's as the British motorcycle industry was sliding down the crapper. Just saying, like.

  15. Well, kind of - its not me that controls the salaries....fucking do with one myself..!

Anyway....i still think we can recover a bit....

He's found an engine for 400 quid delivered (borrowed the dosh from his mum). And, heres the plan.....engine should be here saturday. All the coating will be done Friday. We'll start to build the bike up over the weekend (if we can finish it then great) but if we dont, we dont....usually when i do things like this something gets in the way...i suspect fixings will be the Achilles heel for us....id rather not reassemble with shit pig iron bolts if i can avoid it...ive got a fair amount in the garage of my own so ill go through those....

Back to the plan....as i say, build the bike back up...but the old engine we're still going to rebuild....so, pull it apart as planned, get it coated. Crucially he's found a second hand crank and rod for 150 quid so, all we need are mains and i reckon i can get the bearings from a bearing supplier rather than honda... we split the engine, get it coated and rebuild it, put it back in the bike and flog the one we bought....but, as the bike will be back together he can take his time doing it...that way the bike keeps its original engine...

  16. try M R Motorcycles in st georges for anything like bearings and bits, he does things the old way and carries bearing etc by size and has oem part numbers by size, he'll also have a load of nos for your 400/4........
great way to teach a youngster the value of something, he'll cherish it
