Hi All So I went to a dealer and had a test of the 1260S Multi and I really liked it. It's pricey compared to the competition, but I think it's worth it. Since I've never had a Ducati before, I was wondering what your experiences were of negotiating the RRP down. Do the dealers tend to bend much? I realise there is the free touring pack at the moment, but I'm trying to get the best deal possible. Any advice from people who have bought them would be appreciated!
You wont get much discount of the RRP. Dealers make 10% ish at best. Look for free services and extras you want to be added at little cost.
As above; any extras beyond the touring pack (dealer probably gets reimbursed for that by Ducati) will be the way to go. i.e. If your want a bike-trac tracker fitted, your insurance may demand it anyway, mine did. Got that and top-box and rack at a significant discount. Try and get road fund licence thrown in as closing gambit. Convinced I negotiated 12 months on mine but just got renewal after 6... no tax disk so didn't check when it expired when I collected...
I think a lot also depends on what stock the dealer is holding. I can only speak from personal experience. Bought my 1st ever Ducati, a Multistrada 1260, new from Snells in Alton, back in Sept. If I recall they had 3 basic models in stock at the time. I dealt with a salesman called David Simpson. All I can say is that I was very very happy with the final figures he managed to achieve compared to the RRP. As with anything it pays to shop around and be willing to travel to collect your bike, you can potentially save hundreds if not over £1k. Good luck
You might get some allowances on the accessories and various "packs", bits and pieces, but getting any significant discount on the basic buying price might not be so straightforward. Good luck anyway.
