Out for a ride today and noticed the gear shifter was really quite loose, to the point I thought it may fall off. Attempted to tighten to no avail. Has anyone else suffered this and/or what they would advise to do?
Looks like you’ve got the S model so have a quick shifter. There has been a recall for dodgy loose shifters so that may resolve your problem. A screw on mine came loose whilst I was riding and prevented the shifter from moving, which prevented me from changing gear at all. I’ve had it changed on mine as part of the recall and it works better now.
If you are talking about the toe peg, then there is a recall to check it on the SS and the Monster. Many have fallen off and I check mine before every ride to see if it has come loose. The same item is used on the latest Monsters. They are the same on the S and the none S. I have a quick shifter on mine, but that does not make it an S model.
Cheers to you both, I’ll get it in to main dealer ASAP. Now you’ve mentioned it I had a quick google and there have been a couple of other recalls, have you had anything else looked at/changed? For example mirrors etc. Aside from the shifter I think the bike is simply brilliant. Once again thanks for prompt responses!
There was a recall for the fuel breather pipes and one for the exhaust heat shield. As far as I know there is nothing in Europe for the mirrors, mine are fine.
