Quick question. The front/horizontal cylinder on my Hypermotard 1100, 2008 was sweating abit. I didnt like this and thought i would give it a try to fix it myself. Replaced with new o-rings, however the problem has gotten worse after replacing them. Tried again, cleaning everything really good, rubbing a small amount of oil on the o-rings and still a no-go. Am i missing something? I once saw complete gaskets for both covers. Is this an option maybe? If so, anybody an idea where i can get them?
never had that problem...no matter what ive put back together its always sealed....whats the condition of the covers themselves (underneath) ie what the o ring goes round?
As far as i can judge they look just fine. Ill pull them off tommorow and take some pictures. I got the tip to put some loctite blue liquid gasket around the o-rings. Also got the tip to put some petrolium jelly around the orings. Dont know how i should feel about both options?
My theory was it could be warped...thought about getting said covers powder coated...that would tighten the clearances...
Ok here are the pics of the camshaft side and cover. 2 small damaged areas on the cylinder but nothing really special right? I have cleaned and degreased everything really good. Now im going to install the cover again with some loctite liquid gasket on the o-ring and see if that holds. Also going to put a small dab of gasket on the bolts.
And here are the valves and valve cover. Also a small scratch here. Going to test ride it tonight to see if there are any leaks.
Thanks guys. Everything is dry now. Just did a quick drive and got the engine to 100C. Completely dry!!! Solution i used. A really small dab of loctite liquid gasket around the orings and bolts.
