Hi I have been trying to bleed my front calipers following a strip & rebuild. I have the callipers hanging 2ft above the master cylinder & with bleed nipples uppermost, I've been tapping them to help get air to the top, but have done a litre of fluid & still lever back to the bars. I have an old set of pads between the pistons. I don't like this setup with the bleed nipple on the brake pipe banjo bolt on the calliper, surely pumping fluid through it will just go straight out of the bleed rather than flushing through as with a bleed the other end of the calliper? Going to push the pistons al the way home with the bleed open, if that doesn't work I have a vac bleed arriving tomorrow though don't hold out much hope for the reason above. Any tips/pointers & opinions welcome.
Have you bled the m/cylinder first, you'll almost always get air rapped in there if the system has been completely emptied.
It's one of these things that can be a dawdle or a complete front bottom. You could try to reverse bleed, usually though you need a pump to do it. I see your logic but when I'm getting no presure at all, it's as @Hughdg said the master still has air in it. I sometimes empty the system and refill to get rid of old fluid, I use a Mityvac and find it's great for one person bleeding Johnny Nae Mates
Didn't even notice the mcyl bleed with its rubber cap on... Feeling optimistic, will do this in a no.
I had the same problem then bled the MC first and the callipers after using a vac pump and all was good. Wasted a litre of Motul 660 though before I sussed it.
Hughdg, I have to wait a few days, it's up on the Skylift still with a few jobs to do, aiming for a Saturday MOT, need a few more evenings on it.
