really please to have found a new Ducati... its a Multistrada 1000DS S .. cant wait to get it.. after much deliberation i decided to go for something that i can use more than a sports bike.. looking forward to getting out and about this summer.. some trips to EU coming.. the Ardennes are so lovely!
I only had two issues with mine, the sidestand can be too short meaning a steep lean angle causing a rare fall over. Most got around this by either welding a 3/4 inch blob on the bottom of the sidestand then tidying it up or, fitting the sidestand from 2005 models onwards (1000/1100) Filling up, it has a peculiar shaped tank and sometimes can cause an air lock which makes the tank click full noise but you ride off and within a short time the fuel level drops. I found when filling, sit on the bike and gently rock it a little whilst filling and that tends to remove most of the air. The strada 1000 and 1100, often called the fugley , is a hugely entertaining bike and greatly undervalued. It's great fun for those not obsessed with top speed, enjoy. You have a great independent ducati specialist not far from you called Baines Racing but be aware, like most of the good independents, as the season starts, they tend to get busy.
Excellent choice @Davidec1959 . I had one myself some time ago. Far more enjoyable to ride than they ought to be , no sports bike aches and pains and you can see where you are going too. As @noobie said, watch out for the side stand and for servicing as well as Baines in Silverstone there is Iain @Rpm in Northampton . Iain has been looking after my bikes since the 1990s and is a top bloke. Enjoy your trips.
thanks for the tips..i used to use Baines back in the day with my Paso... constantly rejetting the carb! i think i had the 1st 750 Paso in the UK...
