does anyone have fun on these?

  1. I have to say that these forums are in-valuable for us all but i have to say that whenever I go out on my 2010 MTS st I have a great time. Yes it has its quirks, like any other bike but when your out and about and howling past other bikes of all types including sports bikes, in comfort, with or without luggage, passengers etc and get people still looking longingly at it I think, what a great bike, and it is. Lets have some positive stories or posts for a change. Come on we have all got 1 or 4. We own Multistrada's dont we!

  3. Agreed. I have the money put aside for a 2013 model but I think I'm sticking with my black 2010 sport. Spent too much time getting it to look how I want it, Q Ds, carbon etc I just can't face letting it go. I know I could swap everything over but I just love the black model and it shows that for all its little failings its still a terrific machine.

  4. Fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the last time I can remember was 1988 with a girl called Ann

  5. I've had her

  6. but the question remains ,, was it on a stroodle?

  7. I agree the multi is a great bike. I have an abs model with full termi. The best way to go... No fancy suspension.. Dont need it, just get the suspension set up properly. I use it for touring two up, great fun. So different to the usaul Pans and Bm's,. Then take it to the track to anoy some sports bikes. The multi an excellent track bike, so fast and brilliant brakes. Love it. Then a bit of scratching around the devon lanes. or a nice relaxing ride along the coast.. Looks good too. What more could you want from a bike. Perfect..

  8. I have to say its one of the best bikes i have owned, for those like me who cant have a garage full of different types of bikes, it ticks all the boxes, keeps up with all but the hooligans on sports bikes, all day comfort, plus an excellent two up touring tool.

I stayed away from the electric suspension, wanted ABS but could not find one in right colour or money, but i do enjoy mine.

Thankfully i bought mine after a lot of the recalls had been done by the first owner, and apart from the niggle of a glowing dash, i would not change it for anything else in the market at the moment.

  9. If you've got a Multi and you ain't having fun on it, then sell it. Simples. With the Multi I get the strong impression it caught some punters out by being nothing like what they were expecting, and now they're stuck trying to make themselves enjoy it. That's just my impression of some of the people I've encountered.

  10. I am in exactly the same situation....do I go for the 2013 model???? Then I have to remove all the bits and bobs I put on the 2010....including the standard exhaust....carbon bits, SW panniers the list goes on and on....

Or do I save the 5 or so grand for the upgrade and a lot of work converting the 2010 to standard....mmm decisions decisions....Lets see what the test ride on Saturday brings :))

  11. I agree. The Multi has been everything I expected, however, I can't get overly excited at the moment as it is the first of 12 motorcycles that has spent 3 months off the road because the engine is shot due to having chocolate heads. Takes the shine off a bit.

  12. As per Fig above, maybe I have missed the true intention of the O.P. as I don't read many Multi threads but any ride/journey has to involve an element of fun doesn't it? I always thought i would 'progress' to a Multi of some kind but am enjoying riding the predecessor (Cagiva Elefant) so much that i don't think it will ever happen now.

  13. Well having 3 bikes I'm a little spoilt tbh. The Multi is a great bike but so is the Monster 1100S.and 1098R. All 3 of these bikes are awesome in there own right and have a time and a place.

As a lover of Sports bikes the 1098R does everything it says on the tin and that's just the beginning.

The M1100S is a fun bike and admired by all (bought with many extras already fitted). I've always like the 10/1198 engine and although its slightly detuned compared to the 1098R, the engine just goes on forever.. My only issue is the height, I'm still on tippy-toes when at a stop, so the art of Clutch & Brake without putting a foot down is now perfected. If I were to go out 2 up, I'd take the Multi all day long.

2/3 Friends who had bought Multi 1200's persuaded me to upgrade my Hyper and I've never looked back. Although its a late 2011 model reg'd as a 2012 model it's had 3 major re-calls:-

    1. Coolant fluid
    2. Fork Leg L/H/S (brake/ABS lines have rubbed on the inside of the forks)
    3. Gear Selector Spring when in 2nd.

Problem no. 3 was the pain in the backside. Had to learn to ride around the problem for the summer using either 1st or 3rd as 2nd under hard acceleration would drop into neutral.

Like others I've spent a bit of time/ money doing upgrades (too many to mention)... If I only had 1 bike I'd have had the Pikes Peak, but the S model suits me down to the ground, a couple of other mods to do yet, but these will be done in a few months time... Oh and it's a Black model with Gold Wheels, looks Mega.

    1. Do I need any other bikes?
    A. No

    2. Would I add a few more bikes if possible?
    A. Hell Yes.

When will enough ever be enough? Never in my book.!.

  14. thats better more upbeat for the incoming better weather and time to get out and wind the things up a bit. off to pyrennees next tuesday. fingers crossed for the weather.

  15. I have an early 2010 and it's been my best bike and put's a smile on my face every time I start her up. I will keep her for a few more years and look forward to trips around Scotland and down to Portugal (what a contrast!) over the summer. Roll on good biking weather.....

With the UK roads the way they are, I wouldn't want to be riding any other bike right now. Should be out with a friend on his new Skyhook this weekend so should be an interesting comparison.

  16. Best bike i've ever had. Third back tyre almost shot at just over 6000 miles so I might be having too much fun:biggrin:.

  17. Hope I'm saying that in a few weeks when I move from my 07 ST to a 2013 Multi. The Trumpet is the best bike I've ever had but it is limited and always wants to accelerate, everywhere. Hoping the Multi will be a more relaxed ride (when want it to be) over distance. Hope you're not saying that you're getting 2,000 miles per rear tyre. Even my 1982 Laverda Jota only chewed up Pirrelli Phantoms every 3,000 miles - and they were made of recycled chewing gum!

  18. Which way have you crossed them?

  19. I'd be really pleased to know whether you think it's worth paying the extra for the skyhook-equipped model. I will only ever be riding solo. Wife is too risk averse to get on the back, so 'sadly' I have to embark on long trips with single and divorced mates!!

  20. You say that like it's a bad thing
