Hello, just wondering whether anyone else is experiencing a squeaking coming from the front (wheel, suspensions?) when moving the bike forwards (engine off) or at very low speeds (<20mph). When moving the bike backwards (engine off, when parking in the garage) this doesn't happen. Any ideas? Thank you!
Have you a centre stand? If so put it up, put some weight on the back so the front wheel is off the floor and then spin the wheel to see if that is your starting point.
Yes they all do that, it's the pads rubbing on the discs. There have been many discussions on this forum about it. Surprised it doesn't do it going backwards, both of mine have, 1200 and now 1260
Thank you for your feedback, that's reassuring. I just noted it yesterday, maybe it has become more audible after 3,000+ miles ;-)
Remove the pads and chamfer the leading and trailing edges of the pad material with a file. That should help. You might also find it is worse if you fit certain makes of sintered pads.
Yup. Pads on disc. You may notice some marks on the disc. Its annoying and only really solved woth lots of use. Some success to be had by rubbing discs with emery or something similar.
As far as I'm aware, it does it on pretty much all Mutli's. I've had a 2010MTS, a 2014 Pikes Peak and now a 1260MTS. They've all done it and my newish bike now does too. Nothing to be concerned about in my mind.
If its a light squeak, mine was the front wheel bearing oil seal, that was running very dry, tried squirting a bit of lube at it to no avail, removed wheel spindle and applied some rubber grease to the lip seal and spacer and been fine ever since
