Wanted 996 engine or bottom end

  1. Please can anyone help?

My alternator nut came off and trashed the rotor, alternator crankcase cover, sprag clutch roller bearing, main crank bearing.

Anyone have any parts to help out?

    Or an engine to sell.

At the moment, I'm stripping the bike down ready for the engine to come out but I am not having much luck shifting the swingarm pivot. Any tips to help?

    Cheers.

  2. There are some real horror stories about swingarm spindle removal.I think the only way is wd40,more wd40 and patience.

  3. Maybe some heat around either end and a few sharp taps with a metal hammer?

Also perhaps a penetrating fluid left on as long as poss. would be good (WD is more suited as a protective lubricant/ water dispersant as opposed to a dedicated penetrating fluid..

  4. Have soaked it in Plusgas so will keep trying

  5. Penetrating oil and patience whilst it soaks in and maybe some hard hits with a plastic mallet, or metal hammer if you can protect the surface with something.

  8. If its seized in there are a few ways around it (I know from experience).

1.Sledge hammer and drift - bike secured to bench on paddock stand with tie downs. Drift must be correct size! If you are having to drift is out, your bearings are shagged anyway. Having a mate put some weight on the bike reduces the hazard of it falling over/off bench.

2 Combination of above + release penetrant spray and a bit of heat on the swingarm bering housing

    3. Once aboves have failed get the hacksaw out and cut through pivot shaft both sides of engine.

When you have it out, replace bearings and pivot shaft. Grease well on re-build and it should be alright when you have to remove a few years later,

  9. Bike has now gone into local workshop with the engine in the frame as I can't get the bugger out.

Lets hope its within economical repair costs.

  10. As i said in the other post , i may have the parts you need, certainly some if not all, pm if interested but i need to know details of the motor like year and is it sps, or three phase. i have a lot of parts as i have parted motors out for the cranks. however i do have a selection of cranks.

  11. You have a PM.
