In late March I was taken out by a car pulling out from a side turning into my path. Bike has been written off, I’m.mending, bones are nearly healed but nerve damage is taking a bit longer. For my witness statement I need to say how many LED’s are lit up on dipped beam. I think there are 6 lights but are all of these on during the day? Can someone confirm this for me Although I think the 1200S is the best bike ever (apart from the wind noise) with awesome engine and handling, my wife wants me to get a beemer 1200RT. After writing one off and having 4 months off work many wives would be anti-bikes so changing models for me is a fair compromise. I’ll stay on the forum because I have some bits to sell on once I’m mobile again (panniers, screens, etc). All the best to everyone here especially those. That have answered my posts when I’ve needed advice Keep it shiny side up Jack
Chiefly it’s psychological/emotional/superstition - it’s not a mutley and secondly she has been out on the back of a friends RT since my accident and felt safe on it. If she is going to embrace me riding and her coming with me then on balance it’s a small price to pay
Daytime, or low beam is the two outside lights only. They are very noticeable. The RT is a much better two up tourer for passenger comfort, top box and back rest are essential for passengers to feel safe.
Maybe she could get an a2 licence (if not got) and ride her own bike. Car drivers will never see us all the time. Even if we had a google maps location pin flying above our heads, bright red and 20feet tall , people who only ever drive cars would miss us. l do lots of london commuting. i run full beam in heavy filtering . Sorry all, but I do. Get well dude.x
