1260 Ducati Multistrada 1260 V4 !! 190hp

  1. The V4 Motor is only 2.2Kg heavier than the outgoing 1285cc V2, so the finished V4 Mutley is likely to arrive at a very similar weight to the current 1260... possibly a bit lighter, given the improvements in chassis design.

    The oldest Ducati dealer here in Germany says, (unofficially) that the V4 multi will be seen at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan in November. They believe it will have around 130KW (170/175 bhp) and loads of low down grunt.

    I think its a great idea and would buy one, but that will be in 6 years time when the prices and availability of quality used ones has dropped to a point I can reach. ;)

    I hope they don't go down the GS route and make it bigger and wider, that's what the Enduro is for. For me 20/21 liters is enough for 3 hours of hard fast riding and lots of fun.

    The additional safety features will be welcome, as would a standard seat that's comfy and is heated. If i had just one wish ( Ducati are you listening ) go back and test the 2010 - 14 versions and reinstate the sharper handling / turn-in these bikes have.

    I tried the DVT before I bought my 2013/14 one and didn't like it, the dealer then sent me out on a 1260... but same thing.... so slow to turn and felt fat and heavy.

  4. If V4 engine is already 2kg heavier and the bike is making more power, it will need a stronger frame.

    I can’t see how it will be lighter than the V2 without making it significantly more expensive.

    It won’t be narrower either. Laws of physics will see to that.

  6. They could put the engine in the top box. Then have a massive fuel tank where the engine normally goes:upyeah:

  8. Surely it will be a wholly new bike? Why not use the panigale frame, or similar, and dump the trellis? Surely if they are going to go V4, it will be more than the motor and a coupe of chassis/bodywork tweaks
     
  9. KTM have put the fuel tank where the engine should be on the 790 Adventure. :D

  10. I'm in a dilemma as I have a 1200S DVT which is about to run out of the extended warranty in March next year.

    I'm fairly happy with the bike and wasn't overly impressed with the 1260 on my initial test ride (plus a cost of £8,500 to change).

    There are some good deals popping up on 1260's with extras at the moment and I'm re-visiting the idea of changing but also tempted at the thought of the V4. The 1260 would probably take a depreciation hit if the V4 comes out so I'm rather conflicted.

  12. I have been thinking the same.. but it depends... if its the same engine as in the Pani V4 and more or less the same bike as the DVT version.... should be low risk...

    Or if all new... then you know you will make friends at your dealer..

  13. I need to see if its a one off bike or a new family i.e. Base, S , and Pikes Peak variant's as nothing has been said regarding additional models or suspension setup as far as I know.

  15. If you are to believe the speculation about a V4 Multistrada in the motorcycling press, it is as well as not instead of, a range topper if you will. Andy
     
  16. @Twin4me if you think there are good deals on 1260s now, just wait until early next year ;)

    I don't see anything wrong with being an early adopter, but it does rather depend on your personal experiences. Not everyone has a bad experience.
    I was planning on (or at least considering) buying a V4 when it comes out, but the 1200 Enduro I bought earlier this year is really growing on me. That alone could see me not be an early adopter this time around.

    Talking of Eicma, anyone on here going to the show, and if so which day ?
    I and a few mates are planning on going.
     
  17. S̶o̶m̶e̶o̶n̶e̶ Something tells me that the MS1260 may be dropped from the range leaving the V4 and 950...
     
  18. Really ? That's a pretty radical concept. Read the article linked earlier in the post which seemed quite convincing that the V4 would be a range topper. Hey, ho, not long to wait until Eichma when hopefully all will be revealed. Andy
     
  19. Makes sense antonye, as long as they don't boost the price. That could see a lot of people defecting to other bikes imo.
