It’s illegal, don’t do it. The police will descend upon you and lock you up as soon as you merely think about doing it.
If they do stop me because they’ve got nothing better to do and are on a fund raising drive like the guys at Loomies ,or because I’ve done something wrong like speeding, I don’t want to compound the situation... I don’t really see why doing something as simple as polishing out the ‘race only’ label is being seen as a panic move..
the other thing worth remembering, is that if you road manners are that of a gixxer rider, you are bound to get pulled and picked up on everything out of place, if you ride more professionally, its likely you wont get pulled for noise or visors. Think what annoys you when your in the car, then imagine if you had the power to pull them over? im on fire today, like a moto headed psychologist or something!
Get that your a new rider (and if you're not then it sounds like you are) If dibble ever pull you, be civil, get the bash hat off straight away and get off the bike. Never in decades of riding have I been asked about plates, visors or exhausts. Don’t worry about something that has yet to happen and may never.
Is it plaque saying race use only on the end cans? If so just take them off, the police much prefer fully open systems anyway and at least theres nothing for them to read You're welcome

The stamp on mine is on the strap at the forward end of the can facing up. Unless the bike is taken apart and cans removed, you’d never see it
I'm needing a trip to the Duka fix it shop, need a Dremmil, new visor, new number plate, baffles and a speedo that only goes up to 70.
As with @TelRobinson ^^^ the statement on mine is on the inside strap at the front, difficult to see unless you're looking specifically for it. Don't sweat it, they ain't gonna check that. They're more interested in your speed and whether you were riding safely/professionally or riding like a twat. Even if you dremmel it out, they ain't stupid, if they want to do you for having 'race cans' they will regardless of whether it says it or not. But they won't bother. sleep easy.
Mot tester told me years ago that if there's a bit of tape across it, he's not allowed to interfere with it..not so sure about the police right enough
Had them on my bike for the best part of 23 years... never been an issue with MOT testers, and even when stopped by the police they have never been questioned. Personally I wouldn't sweat it... Famous last words... Gulp!
The Police probably don't have the budget to look at exhausts I remember stopping at a set of lights and sounding like a one man band, my clutch sounded like a tambourine and my terms like a bass drum, if I made the sound of a symbol I would have made money. Anyway Cheshire finest pulled up along side me at the lights as you do you can't help but turn your head and look, he wound down his window he said to his mate listen to that! O'no I thought here we go, hassle I don't need and he said "nice bike mate shame about the number plate size" I said "ok I will get it change tomorrow" and from this day on I have standard size number plates on all my bikes.
The police at loomies who prompted my post clearly do have time. I’ve read that they actually did issue tickets for both visors and exhausts to people who say they were well within the speed limit since posting this. I’ll stick with my dark visor but polish out the sign at some point.
