Dont buy Ride anymore, would have been an interesting read though. Luckily both my current bikes dont require security, not even immobilisers, which is good as neither has them fitted as standard!
To answer the original question - the "black box" on mine was attached to the frame rail under the tail fairing, just in front of the rear light. The problem with RiDE's reviews on this sort of thing is that they don't (usually) actually use the bit of kit for more than a week or two...
1098s mounted to frame under o side fairing. I only have it as was fitted when bought. when insurance ask about security I tell them I have a ducati security device ( standard immobiliser ) if I had choice I would remove the alarm.
