Heading over to the NW200 this year and was looking for some tips regard best viewing point for race day without having to pay extra for grandstand seats or is it worth the extra money for hospitality ticket ? Have heard guys talk about Portrush being a bit mental on race day with loads of drunken yobs staggering around the place causing bother ?? not sure if true but rather avoid that if so. Any ideas \ experience out there folks for an enjoyable trip to Ireland ?
i go every year cept last year and unfortunately this year too grandstand seats are the way to go...i get the paddock ones so that i can have a wander around when the mood takes. also got good access to food and toilets and always good to get a seat too. from memory i think its grandstand 2 i go for.. its the one that sits kinda diagonaly to the track in all the years ive been going ive never had any problems with anyone , drunk or not, when ive been there its awesome!..truely is
Cheers Mark Maybe go for the hospitality then , suppose being a long day it it is always good to park the old butt on a seat now and again , makes sense mate , fed and watered too ! Where did you park the bike or was you staying local ?
the paddock access charge is about £6 for race day or £12 mayb for whole race week...youd need to check that you need paddock access for the stand i used to go too. A seat in grandstand is bout £25 i always park in a house garden just up the hill from the start/finish line. sounds a bit dodgy but theyve been doing it for years and are very well organised, safe and secure. ive never had any issues with the bike re scratches, falling over etc. usually a fiver.. never went the hospitality way so no sure how that would compare to the way i do it my mate bruce birnie, the current scottish superbike champion, is racing this year so i really should go !!! give him a cheer if you see him or on your wanders around the pits
we stood in town and moved about , the best spot is and the old rundown fire damaged hotel as you can see two corners and its free
Thanks guys , looking forward to it , just hope we will be blessed with some good weather that weekend and go for a blast on the 848 along the coastal roads of Ireland
we stayed in bally castle and drove to the padock its well worth it as you can bump into the riders i bumped into guy Martin a couple of times
Cheers motojohn , staying in Ballycastle myself for the event , as long as there is a couple of pubs i will be a happy man ! Guy Martin , what a character , love to spend a few hours in his company over a couple of pints , tremendous appetite for racing and clever man ! Christ , NW200 only about 7 weeks away too and ive not even put 1 mile on the Duc yet ! itching to get out there but still freezin up here and roads are white with salt , dont wanna risk it just yet Cheers
There is a hotel on the harbour good for food and a couple of pubs up the hill from the hotel we spent a few hours in them both and found the first one the best but i can not remember the name its very small but with a large outside area with a juke box and some retro video games and they sell the best pint of killkennys and smithicks snd the landlady is hot
