748 test socket

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by salbalboa, Feb 17, 2013.

  1. Can any one explain what the test socket is used for on the ecu? And does the ecu have ODB serial port?
I'm looking at a possible digital dash install and just need a bit of info before I take the plunge.

    Thanks

  2. Some one must have a clue

  3. It would appear that no one does, which does surprise me, anyone help this member out surely??????

  4. On the 748 the diagnostic connector is a 3 pin Superseal connector with 3 wires (K Line, negative and L - Line)

There is no OBD type diagnostic connector

If you google Ducati 748 Digital Dash there are a number of articles on the net about it

If you are after a free diagnostic program for the 748 then google Ducatidiag. From there you can download a piece of diagnostic software that works with some cheap leads off eBay. The version you need is DucatidiagOld.

  5. Well done Chris great info:upyeah:

  6. Thanks for the help I've been Googling for days and haven't come across the relevent info.
Google just seems to find random crap when i search.

What I was looking to do is connect the digital dash to the ecu via serial so the dash could read directly from the ecu and save having to fit extra sensors.

  8. Any info on what lead is required? or can I make one?

  9. I've fitted one of these to mine - you don't need to go anywhere near the diagnostics socket.
All the stuff you need is taken off the two sockets that power the original clocks.
The only thing you may have to do is run your speedo pickup to the rear wheel.

  10. Thanks for the info. Ordered the leads, will be interesting to play with the Ducatidiag software. :upyeah:

  11. i second antonye. You dont need the test port unless you wanted to play with the software you've got. No ODB as you've been told.
All wires for a dash are already there, just need the speed sensor.

  12. Got the Ducatidiag software & cables , simple enough to setup although had to set ECU type to 15rc rather than the expected 16m?

Useful, if not essential, info available on the laptop.

  13. Welcome aboard Ash.
1037sps has not been seen for 3yrs 47wks so I doubt he’ll respond:confused:. However @antonye is a regular user and has (had) a similar dash; as I’m interested too I’ve tagged him (even though this thread is 6 years old:astonished:).

  15. Think it’s a translogic microdash.

  16. TransLogic.
I've actually changed mine to the later version as the display is much better and has more features.
I made an intermediate cable that connects between the Ducati loom and TransLogic dash, so no cutting wires on either side.
Really easy to do. Routing the cable for the speed sensor to the rear brake disc was the hardest part!
