Diavel 1260 Hard Security

  1. Hi

A few questions about security for the 1260s.

My previous bike was chained to a ground anchor via the frame. The 1260 doesn't have enough space between the frame and the engine, or other gaps, so that leaves the rear wheel (not ideal) or something like the Pragmasis anti pinch pin (which size?). I was hoping to use a paddock stand over winter to save the stand and the tyres, which the pinch pin would preclude. Any ideas?

I would like a chunky disc lock (e.g. Abus) for the rear wheel, but my current ones don't fit. Any suggestions for one that is large enough, Thatcham 3 (for insurance purposes), and ideally alarmed? Bonus points if it can fit in the tiny cubby hole under the seat!

Lastly, portable security. Currently I put a (front wheel) disc lock in my jacket pocket, which isn't ideal. I prefer not to use a backpack for hard/heavy objects, so travelling solo I could put something in a rear bag, or even a small tank bag (e.g. Kriega). With a pillion that leaves the tank bag or jacket pocket(s) at a push. Any suggestions appreciated!

    Thanks!

On a serious note, you've posted in one of the less populated areas of the forum, IMO, you'd be better off saying hi in tiger Newbies Hangout and then re-posting this in Clothing Gadgets Equipment as well.

BTW. I use a disk lock on the move (which fits under the seat on my 748 but not on my Monster) and when at home they all live in a garage, with Henry (above) on patrol.

  3. How about a Roadlock, there's only the pin to carry when it's unlocked. Either under the seat or in your jacket pocket. Do a search on here, there's a member who sells them at a good price.

  4. Roadlok looks interesting, thanks. It's quite subtle (i.e. not much of a visual deterrent), so it would be nice to complement it with a loud alarmed rear wheel lock.

Happy for the thread to be moved to Clothing Gadets etc if that's appropriate - I can't see a way for me to do this, so perhaps it needs an admin?

  5. Just scrub the roadlok with wirewool & then spray can it bright yellow/neon green.

An alarm does fuck all in the day & age. Where someone stopping a fight got killed with a screwdriver in londinium. Get a gps tracker & have piece of mind you most likely will get the bike back.

  6. Following on up this - thanks for the tips on the Roadlok. Does anyone with a Diavel know of a disc lock that fits the rear wheel?

    Thanks!

  7. When I bought my 1260S not a single insurance company was interested that I had two dogs. "Not relevant" they all said. Really? I'd like to meet the man who'd try to get round two GSD's to nick my bike. If he got away with it I'd put the V5 Log Book in his hand myself....If we could find his hand that is

  8. Lock location: lock location.jpg I Here's how I carry my disc lock on the 1260S: lock it through the passenger footpeg mount, then use an elasticated wrist band to stop it flapping around. simples
