Hello everyone, new owner of an 1198s, lunatic of a bike! ill be sending it down to Portugal for some track day action, and I have bought a set of race fairings, from a 1098. my question if you do not mind, I have spent a long time searching and looking, but to no avail. the rear fairing, I have the S, is there anything specific I need to be wary about when it comes to the data logger location and or DTC? kind regards, happy to photo document if it will help someone else. AL
welcome Dave ..........and thread moved And moved back again cos you'd already introduced yourself back in April
Hi, nice bike! If you fit an aftermarket seat you need a bracket to mount the DTC in the correct orientation. BSD do them I believe. I think the DTC is a bit billy basic so never have mine switched on.
Thanks for the welcome! As much as I’d like to be a Dave, I’m an Al, not sure how I have developed that name?! Haha. But whatever, Dave, Al.... Thanks for the tip re the bracket. I’ll get that ordered up. Spare parts.... send my way! Cheers everyone!
Some more photos, race fairings in the background, 60 quid off eBay? Bit of damage, but nothing I won’t make worse..... Cheers Dave.....
Would anybody know where I can get a BSD traction control mouth or similar for my 1198? Fitting race fairings and I can’t find a mount? Many thanks, Al
So working on changing the 1198 into track mode.... Ok so my first track day, on a bike.... in Portimao... in over my head, absolutely! So far fairings going pretty smoothly, DTC mounts purchased but some clearance issues with track seat fairing. All pictures taken on my broken phone, excuse weird quality!
You can try these Nemesis mounts for your track seat unit. My 1098R had them fitted when I bought it and worked fine with the track bodywork. https://www.bikesportdevelopments.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSD1288
One step ahead!! But many thanks, it’s still a bit tight, maybe the fairing or more likely the way I have mounted, if I could mount it below that would be ideal, but it gets close to exhaust....
If that were me, I'd look to remove the 2 rubber mounts (they are quite tall) and mount the IMU onto the brackets with some shorter rubber fabrication of some sort.
Hmmm, good thinking, I’ll find some shorter runners and see, that would take 5-10mm off the height, may be enough!
