Hi guys, there are lots of threads about this on old forums but I wonder if anyone on here has had 1st hand experience.. My 2004 749R stalls at every opertunity, when the ambient is below 15degC it will stall at every junction, round about etc. As englands so bloody cold all the time its a bit of an issue! The soloution I have found is to keep the revs up which helps prevent it from stalling, but its a bit of nightmare and ive been caught out several times pulling out.. from what i have read the possible soloutions are: Reset TPS Balance throttle boddies Get cam timing re dialled in it seems the pre 2005 749s had the same issues Hopefully someone can advise..? thank you Toby
I have a 999 and when mine stalls at idle or on low revs on pulling away a TPS reset has work for me (twice in over 8 years of owning) Mine is a 52 plate
That's what dangerously used to happen to mine ('04 749R). It would cut out pulling away from a round-about, or island if you're Northen. TPS reset and it was fine.
It was explained to me once that the standard fueling was set to meet the emissions standards of the MOT - but this is too lean for practical purposes. TPS reset and a friendly MOT station fixes this  *nod to final_edition*
Both 749R bikes I had owned suffered from this... Motorapido did a TPS reset on the first bike which sorted the issue. On my current 749R Steve (Wilf) loaded a map onto the ECU which improved everything and also did a TPS reset.
Hi Guys thank you for your replys, I will try the TPS reset to start with.. has anyone bought the cables and used the ducatidiag software avialable to do the reset?
A TPS reset can help, but I've found having the balance and mixture set at the same time is a more successful solution. Lifting the tickover a little helps as well. The cam timing can be reset/adjusted either manually or using the set tools for the 2004 S. this works but does lop a couple of hp off.
Hi bud, I took my 749s to motorapido in winchester as I was suffering from the same problem. The checked and adjusted the CO% and did a TPS and it sorted me out a treat. I've had no problems with that issue since. Everything else as fallen apart though It cost me £70 - pretty cheap and took about an hour.
