Abs Error, Speedo Down

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Nemer Kharroubi, Sep 24, 2019.

  1. Hey all. Been having trouble with my icon 800 2015 with 1500 miles only.
Showing ABS error on start uo, speedo intermittent, doesnt work more often that it does. I only have an indie with basic diagnostics saying its abs sensor.
2 rear sensors later, still the same :(
All.conncetions cleaned battery sensor etc. Nothing disconnected.
    Getting desperate now
    Anybody had similar problems?

  2. Do the error codes specifically point at the rear wheel sensor? If it's not the sensor itself, it could be the wiring to/from the sensor.
Could it be the front wheel sensor?

  3. Indeed.
I suggest checking the connector between the sensor and the loom.
Give it a spray with contact cleaner and a jolly good wiggling.

  4. All connections cleaned.
    Front sensor OHMs in range.

Only difference now after putting the new sensor, the speedo shows --- instead of "0"
And ABS shows ON from the menu, but still showing an error and inactive on testing.
The indie i use doesn't have a soecific ducati tool, initial diagnosis was rear speed sensor and 2 unknown faults.

Am gonna try resetting the faults and see if itll work otherwise ill have to get off my little island to a proper dealer, whicj is time money and jerve consuming.

  5. You haven’t changed your disc bolts by any chance??

  6. The Scramblers have a phonic wheel for the sensor.

  7. This is going to sound a bit off the wall, so I hope someone else has heard of this to back me up.

I've heard examples of ecu playing up being cured by taking the battery and ecu off and putting the ecu in the freezer overnight.

  8. The bike is practically new. 1.5k miles alas didnt get much use before i got it. Everything is stock, and had been having annual services.
Battery disconnected several times abs rings cleaned several times all connections cleaned including ecu. Only thing i couldnt disconnect was the abs pump.
Something did change since i installed the rear sensor, the speedo went from 0 to --- and funny enough ABS shows ON from the menu, when it used to show error.
On the dash though, still got abs light, abs error and EML on

  9. Does that work on the same principle as a sonic screwdriver??

  10. Is there any kind of ABS/TC recalibration that can be done through the dash? Has the bike had a tyre change, and is it running standard sized tyres?

  11. Stock tyres with proper pressures.
    Not sure about calibration

  12. There is no ABS/TC calibration available on the Scrambler.

  13. A metal disc with slots in it that the speed sensor uses to create pulses at a frequency proportional to the road speed.
    See items 4 and 11.

  14. Just for the sake of asking, re connecting the battery included the wire to the ABS thingy.

  15. As seen on abs equipped bikes??

  16. Yes, it doubles as a speed sensor for the dash and the ABS. There is one on each wheel.
