Page Three and Podium Girls

  1. Rupert Murdoch is considering ending having pictures of topless women on page three, a move supported by Girlguiding UK.

    Peter Sagan apologised recently for feeling the bottom of a podium girl at the end of the Ronde of Flander cycle race.

    We see grid girls scantily clad in freezing weather at motorcycle races and car races.

    Is this practice of having women as 'window dressing' an anachronism and should it come to an end ?

  3. I think they could at least give them a coat - I did notice the further down the grid the worse the 'babes' were (one was a bloke) and why they had umbrellas on Sunday I have no idea :rolleyes:

    It is outdated now and could do with a bit of a revamp - the girls seem to enjoy themselves and most blokes seem to get a hit from it

    Just all a bid sad imho

  6. As one of the few women regulars on here, I absolutely hate the sexism and degrading crap. I am not a feminist and dont have strong feeling about the subject generally. Anyway its time to stop this insulting behaviour.

  7. I don't get this argument whether grid girls are being degraded or not. If you go out in any town at the weekend you'll find girls dressed in exactly the same way, they choose to dress like that. Furthermore they dress like that for exactly the same reason that grid girls are scantily clad, for men(and some women) to look at, it's certainly not for comfort not in this weather.

  8. Grid girls are just another form if advertising IMO. Regarding the page 3 girls, I couldn't care less either way

    you say the ladies enjoy it and the blokes get a hit? what's sad about it? - just sounds like everybody is enjoying it apart from you.

  19. Page 3 - Bit dull.... I suspect the idea to remove it has been generated by some editor.
    Which in turn will generate a "Save our Page 3 lovelies" campaign. :rolleyes:

  20. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. So why deny the world that lovely view. I guess there a other topics concerning woman and children in need of much more urgent societal attention than some that choose to be there and make the best of the talents they were dealt and not seeming to suffer too much from it , beside a cold enduced hardened nipple ..
