Hi, I'm looking for a Monoposto subframe for my 996 plus seat/light unit/brackets etc. I'm keeping my Bi unit complete so I can just swap over when my lad wants a run so need to gather as much as poss. I have my monoposto plastics, just need everything else. Please let me know what you have & how much your looking for. Cheers folks, Ally.
I take it you want an aluminium version? you probably know already that they command quite a price as everyone wants one. I pointed someone to one in Italy for around £120 last year but haven't seen one secondhand for a while now.
Hi Chris. Not bothered what it's made of really. I've been reading as much as I can about changing over. Some say you can just leave the Bi subframe on ?? Not sure. . The search continues.
my 'S' has a steel subframe and a mono seat on at the moment but I can't tell you of any subtle differences that may exist to stop you doing the same. Have you tried offering up your mono seat unit yet? as you say - the fixings at the rear are different and the main part needed is on E-Bay now for around £12.
Just getting the unit painted at the moment. I'll get a taillight unit & stepped bracket & seat hinge and see if it fits the Bi frame ??
my bip is fitted with a mono seat,it's a easy 'fettle' to amend.like chris said,offer the seat unit up to the frame.and look to the place to adjust!.
Maybe I am missing something, why not just fit the mono seat onto the biposto subframe? (You just need a spare rear light & latch for a 10 second swap over! I have an alloy mono now but amongst other things, the ECU is in a different place and the undertray is also different so swapping would be a faff.
as said srad, i'm not an anorak in the subframe dept but I do know that you can't fit a mono seat on an early bip subframe because it has a couple of stabilising braces that hook into the bip seat unit and these won't clear the mono seat unit. Obviously later ones do as both mine and Speno's have shown, it's just which ones.
