1299 1299 Fuel Tank Symmetry

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Bunnycrusher, Oct 30, 2019.

  1. Hi all,
Had a 1299 for 2 months. Have just noticed that the long gap line between the fuel tank and the plastic infill at the bottom differs by about 3mm from left to right sides. You can see the tank weld on the right hand side of the bike where the gap is bigger.
Also on the right hand side, the plastic infill at the front is in constant contact with the paint and is rubbing it. The Ducati dealer has told me that he has 2 others in their showroom identical. They’ve taken it away to try and sort it. Anyone else got a 1299 that can concur this?

    cheers

    Jim

  2. You won't be too happy when your speedo cracks and the paint flakes off the engine.

  4. There is some movement with the screw fixings slacken them off and position them so they line up.
Its something Ive done on my 1299, and have to do or check when its been serviced. The trim under the tank is moveable in the same way.

  5. What happens when the chicken strip on the left is different size to the one on the right ? Will the angle grinder come out ????

  6. I had a similar issue when I changed my air filter. After I refit the tank, it looked wonky and I had to take the tank on and off a few times to improve it. There is little, but not a lot of adjustment you can do on the fixings. Hopefully the dealership sort it out. I don't think mine is completely right still, but close enough!

Cheers for that, got it back now all sorted.

  8. Awesome! Have you got any pics of the improved fitting? Did they mentioned what they did to improve it?

  9. Just said they’d stripped it down and put it back together making sure everything was aligned properly.

  10. Got to add that snell in Alton is about 60miles from maidstone and they sent out a van and turned my bike around in a day, no ifs or buts. Excellent customer service.
