I have a friend with a 748 and he's looking to do a the servicing himself. The only thing he has a question on is the belt tensioner. Apparently the tool is £250 from a dealer?! Is this right and if so are there any alternatives or is it just bite the bullet time?
Facom Belt Tool DM.16 is the equivalent - check YouTube as there are lots of guides on how to use them. But it's not the only way to tension the belts! You can use the 10mm spanner method, 5mm allen key method, 45 degree twist, belt tensioner or the sonic method!
I would go with the Ducati sonic method, the best way by far to me, you can get the software from here HitCounter ( Courroies is the one you need) you can get plenty of info in here ducatidiag :: Connexion you can also get diagnostic software ducatidiag :: Connexion Hope this helps
I recently did this for the first time after much umming and ahhing Used the facom tool Very easy to use and would recommend
Shouldn't this be in Technical Advice? As belts are are used on many other models. Just because it is a 748 it gets moved so SB. Totally irrelevant. Anyone still use a Burroughs gauge these days?
