Hi Apologies if perhaps this should be in the technical forum...... Had a good search online and cannot find the length of the 900ss ie fork - Ideally from spindle centre to top of the fork tube, but any two reference points will help me. Also could do with the standard pull through of the forks through the yokes. Reason for asking is that my 900ss ie track project has nitrided 996 forks and I am trying to get a good starting point for where to position the forks in the yokes. Be nice if they were roughly the same length!!! Thanks in advance for any info.

My 996 forks measure 720mm from centre of spindle to top of fork tube (not inc top cap), with forks fully extended.
Wouldn’t distance between tyre and underside of bottom yoke under static sag condition be more useful for setting the front end?
But suspension isn’t fixed: that’s the whole point of it. You could measure between the centre of the front axle and the yoke if you prefer, but what you really need to know is whether the bike is going to be at the right level when you ride it, rather than looking like a cross between mad max and a trail bike, or dragging the sump on the ground. The question is how much fork leg to have sticking out of the top yoke with non-standard forks.
Thanks for the input guys. The reason for asking for the standard ie fork length to compare to the forks I have is just to give me a baseline setup steering angle (with the head angle of course being fixed) - I will dial in say 25mm of static sag and go from there. Changing the fork drop alters ride height and steering response which I like to set by feel rather than just use standard numbers but it would be good to have a "close to standard" starting point.
There are two questions, the second one is about how much of the fork leg is sticking through the top yoke. The first question is asking about the fork length. The only accurate way to measure the fork length is with it unloaded & from fixed points.
Agreed CAT3 ie on a front paddock stand, from centre spindle (moves under load) to top of fork tube (fixed point). Amount of fork protrusion on standard fork set up, along with std fork length gives me an idea as to where my forks should sit (given spring weight/sag are all variables to be dialled in) Don't you just love playing with suspension - I do!!!!!
