Bike Is Making A Beeping Sound

  1. Hello,im seeking some help to find out what my issue might be. I have a 2003 Ducati 999 ,it has been sitting for about 2 weeks in the garage,and i was near it and noticed a beeping noise somewhere in the area,turned out to be my bike. It sounds like its coming from somewhere near the battery . It beeps once every 2-3 seconds. I got my key and started it to check if the battery still had juice and it does. Forgive me for not knowing if its something simple. Any help would be appreciated ,thanks

  2. Im 100% sure its an electronic beep coming from near the battery somewhere.

  4. It does have one,but im not sure to what extent,if its just the factory or aftermarket. I dont have a keyfob to activate/deactivate, its just the key with a chip. I have read some have backup battery. Its got me thinking maybe a backup battery in there somewhere losing charge ,but then again i dont know if it would make a beep sound either. I just dont know anything about the alarms they may have .

  5. yea im far from an expert but that may well be the culprit.. cant think of any other reason ya bike would be beeping!

  6. Ive tried looking for other forums posts and videos of anything similar and i cannot find anything. Closest i did find was the gas tank issue you mentioned,but im sure its not that.

  9. Low Battery warning from alarm. If leaving bike for long periods put it into Winter mode.

  10. So i ended up finding out what it was in this case. The battery itself has a digital screen monitor and voltage alarm. The battery drained low enough for it to set the low voltage alarm,and i had to reset it. Its fully charged and back to normal now. Thanks for the help and input for i had no idea what it might have been. The battery is a Chrome Pro btw if anyone is curious.

  12. I’m guessing then that it is a lithium battery.
    A lot of people on here are very wary of lithium batteries on older bikes because a problem with the charging system can turn the battery into a fire-bomb.

  13. No it’s a gel battery. I looked the brand up on t’internet and it’s a combination of acid and silica that makes a jelly. Ideally suited to deep drain applications but not below 32 Fahrenheit and is supposed to be not as good as an AGM. Found an article that explained all the science which was quite interesting.   19. Not sure what you mean,but it has an audible low voltage alarm.
