1260 Rear Wheel Mudguard (1260 Enduro Mts)

  1. Anyone know of a supplier for a rear wheel mudguard / anti-mud spray shield that works with a 1260 (and in particular, the Enduro) ? (Akin to the thing fitted as standard to the GSs). :(

    Seems to be a supplier in Germany but details on website look a tad vague.

    If you own an Enduro, you'll already know they're a so-and-so for spraying road gunk up at your back. :)

    Yes, I saw your post after I'd posted mine.

    The problem is that there's no "ready made for the Enduro" option out there and I think manufacturers of accessories could find a good market (UK, EU or global) for a series of well designed and reasonably priced practical accessories designed to address simple issues that riders encounter. When visiting my Ducati dealer I saw Diavels with the factory-fitted rear mudguard protector fitments that BMW also fit as standard to the GS range. The question for me was why one earth do Ducati put them on a road going Diavel but not on an on-and-off-road bike like the Enduro unless they worry it'll be 'whacked-off' in use ? But it should surely at least be an option for Enduros that get some green lane/track use.

    Anyway, I've started speaking to a quality specialist manufacturer of motorcycle accessories about it, even if it's just a designed rear wheel spray minimiser for the rear wheel and hopefully it will lead to something positive. There has to be a market for these things in my view: not all Enduro 1200/1260 riders or passengers can be happy about getting a mudstripe up their back ! :)

    You've probably noticed that a topbox helps minimise backstriping but it's hardly an elegant or practical solution and leads to a heck of a lot of cleaning.

    I can send you a link to the German product if you're interested. It's about £200+, made of carbon, and whether it fits is an "unknown" ...the ad just says MTS 1260 fullstop. So not terribly informative.

  6. I solved this problem on a Triumph Explorer I used to own by using an idea that Honda had in the sixties. Make yourself a short “lip” the same width of the number plate that extends from the bottom of your number plate at 90 degrees into the trajectory of the rooster tail. Mount it behind the plate using the existing bracket.
    I may not be explaining it very clearly but it is basically any length of rigid lightweight material cut to size in an “L” shape then fitted at the bottom of the number plate. I used a black plastic plant container borrowed from the wife’s greenhouse.
    It worked well for me.
