I went out for a ride last night for a couple of hours straight after work, I rode a nice new route I've come across which is a mix of some really nice A and B roads, there were quite a few bikers out as well with the same idea so it seemed which was nice to see however I was VERY suprised at how few nods I got from any of them. I was out Sunday for a couple of hours and pretty much every biker who came in the opposite direction gave me and my mate a good old nod yet last night I was out on my own and out of the 20 or so bikers who passed I can only recall 2 nods at the most, has anyone else noticed a difference in this between weekend and midweek riding, or is there some rule about not nodding mid-week or something that I am not aware of..? Do some bikers deliberately alienate us Ducati riders because we are Ducati riders and not on a Honda or Suzuki per say ..? Just found it quite odd thats all and wondered if anyone else had ever noticed this or whether I was simply in my own little world lost  Stu
how odd - found the exact opposite yesterday - everyone nodded including a copper (he nodded first I nearly fell off) along with a couple of harleys, learners and general odd bods
Funny how you note in the first instance that on certain days people nod and on other days they don't, then suddenly link it to people hating ducatis. I don't get it. Far more likely is that the midweek bikers are commuters who are sick of nodding to all and sundry, while the weekenders are only too happy to nod. Either that or you're looking into it waaay too deeply...
Whilst out yesterday I had nods from sports bikes but none from the few Harleys I saw.I don't nod to Harley riders any more as 99.9% ignore you.Pity that as I am sure there are some well mannered Harley riders out there somewhere. I get lots of nods when I'm on the MH900 and twisted heads as well as they try to work out what went past. That's what I like about most bikers, they have an interest in all sorts of bike whatever make it is.
Everyone is happier to be on their bike on the weekend as its not a commute to work! I don't nod anymore unless I'm nodded at first as in London it's virtually pointless. Nobody nods. I used to nod at fellow Ducati riders but I find that we are the worst and you just get ignored. I see why other riders think we're arrogant. If people pull up beside me I never ever ignore them.
I `m trying to get a bit fitter so went for a cycle last night, lots of other cyclists nodded and said hello. Felt good this morning so went for another ride before work and almost nobody acknowledged me. I think it is the riding to or from work that changes things whether it is a bicycle or motorbike.
