2004 Ducati monster 1000S i.e senna edition

  1. Hello all
Need some of you 2 cents here please.
After having several ducatis (Monster 796, Diavel and Streetfighter 848) i have an opportunity to purchase a 2004 Monster 1000S i.e senna edition (dark gray, red wheels).
the bike had 3 owners and now is at the ducati dealer (he bought it back from a client to make it as a show room model next to few other rare ducaties, but will sell it to me if I want it.

That monster will undergo a full restoration from top to bottom to make it like a new as possible. Many upgrades are already waiting in boxes (full system exhaust, upgrade ecu, clutch cover and
    plenty of CF goodies.

But I have to admit, I have no experience with older ducatis, never rode one, owned one or
    maintained one.
What to I need to know before I dive into it?
I read few test rides reviews but if any one of you can trough a tip or two on how does it handle, how expensive is it to own and use, how will it be as a daily ride and so?

I do roughly 10,000 km a year and probably use it bit as a daily ride and
    weekend's fun rides.

    Thanks!

  2. Is this a genuine Senna model?, I thought this was like late 748s models with the grey paint and red wheels?

  3. yes. it is genuine. ill post real photos soon from the restoration process.

  4. Mate monsters are by far the most surprising ducatis out there. They handle, riding position in my opinion is almost perfect (made mine perfect as more at front), you ride the torque and you a challenge to anything on the road if straight line is not there. Even lights to lights they shoot off like a rocket when you think about bhp they make.

Ride the torque brother. If I could have only one Ducati ever it would be a 1000s. DS motor with proper swing-arm :)

  5. Do not want to rain on your parade but with genuine there is plenty monster sennas from 620 to 1000s. I know parking lot that has 4 of them ;)

  6. The only monster model, i'm aware of, which was manufactured as a Senna is the S4.
It would be worth while checking the origin/ model type with Ducati before purchasing.

As for the 1000 model, they are very reliable, with a strong engine. One of my friends rides into London daily on theirs, the motor has covered over 40,000 miles with no real problems, apart from the usual wear and tear to be expected with town riding.

  7. I'm from Israel :upyeah:
as far as the importer knows, it is the only one (senna) in the holy land

  8. As promised, here are some photos from the restoration proses.
Not sure about the black stripe (last owner did it), but I'll see. What do you think?
The engine is completely re built, all new internals and seals.
Lots of CF goodies on it already.

  9. Sorry but it's not a Senna; it's a grey bike with red wheels, the same as the 748S in grey with red wheels.

The ONLY Senna models were 916s between 1995 and 1997.

  10. are you sure about that? is there a way to verify that?
not that it matters so much, it is not the main reason for me wanting it. it is still a cool bike, as i see it.

  11. Antoyne is correct

  12. senna or not, the engine is "in". or atleast, in place

  14. If the price is being set because of its alleged rarity, get it re-adjusted. As a nice monster, re-built, with a DS1000 engine it looks great and I reckon (from my old Multistrada) that the DS1000 is an almost perfect road engine. I'd love to stick one into my Carby 900SS

Coincidentally, my old Multistrada was black with red wheels and Senna Decals on it...
