899 Squeaky Shock

  1. Hi. I'm after some advice on how to stop my rear shock from squeaking. Everthing down there looks to be fine. I can't see any leeks or cracks, anything loose or any other obvious faults so I was going to revome one of these three bolts one at a time and try packing the bolts and thread with grease to see if it will stop it from squeaking but I'm unsure if this is possible to do on the bike or should it be removed first before I attempt this? Im approaching this very carefully as I don't want to undo anything and catapult the bike into the outer atmosphere. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 2. Removing any of those bolts, without supporting the bike will collapse the rear suspension. Before taking them apart, I'd try a quick squirt with GT85 or WD40 etc. down either side of the bush. There's also a 4th point worth doing. The other end of the tie bar connected to the swingarm.

  3. When you say support the bike do you mean with something like a ABBA stand so the suspension is unloaded or on a paddock stand?

  4. Think that through a minute......

  5. Suspension must be unloaded. Abba stand or similar.

  6. As above..... on an ABBA stand or such like. Anything that unloads the rear end, so not a paddock stand.
