900ss ie Crash Bungs

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by YellowDuc, Apr 9, 2013.

  1. Been looking at possibly installing some crash bungs, but really DO NOT want to drill out the fairing. Seen a few images on the net and it looks like there is a few of them installed where the large fairing bolt is.

Not sure if that is actually a secure mounting point (is it not just a stay for the Fairing?) or where the hell you would buy these things.

    Anyone any ideas?

  2. Unfortunately if you want a solid mounting its done by changing the engine mounting bolt which is in the way of the fairing - you have to drill a whole. R&G do them for the SS, bit pricey but the quality is good and fitting is easy. If you convert to 1/2 faired drilling isn't an issue as the plastic sits above the crash bung.

  3. Speedymoto do an under bodywork kit for the SS. Replaces the engine mount as per a "proper" set up but the pucks are a lower profile so they sit under the fairing. You'll scratch the fairing, but chances are you would anyhow, but they'll protect the casings etc. They're quite popular as pretty much all faired Ducati need a hole drilling due to the front engine mount position.
Don't botther with the ones that mount off the fairing bracket. Absolutley no use whatsoever...you'll just end up ripping the mounting plate off the frame.
I don't have any in stock for the SS at the moment, but they are £125 inc. easy enough to get in though..
