I have just installed a Leo vince can, not decat just slip on, and that says compatible with panniers. Looks good, fairly light and easy install. Not ridden yet, but think it may even be quieter than standard.
Want to decat but probably keep baffles in. Quieter than standard not my objective. Seeking percussion but not the full orchestra at cruising rpm! I believe the Leo Vince decat doesn't play with the panniers, slip-on will?
The instructions suggest it does. It’s the shorter version, there may be two. I don’t have panniers anyway so nothing to try and make sure it does
Does anybody know if a 15 DVT exhaust is the same as a 16 DVT? I suspect they are the same as some dealers advertise an Arrows pipe for a 15 DVT and I have a 16. Thanks.
Don't know whether anyone has already mentioned but isn't there a Chinese link pipe for sale on flea bay for around £163.00
Recently fitted a decat pipe to my 1200S DVT. it's a big weight loss, 6.5kg for the OE catalytic converter compared to just under 1kg for the decat pipe. I fitted with my existing Leo Vince end can, looks great but OMG the sound was horrendous!!!!!!! I spent half a day turning the garage upside down trying to find the baffle for the end can Baffle in is marginally better at standstill, haven't had a chance to take a ride and see if there's much improvement. I wanted to improve the weight a bit, wanted more noise and that deep v twin Ducati sound but instead have ended up with a fairly horrible noise!!! Not sure if it's worth taking the end can apart and adding more packing to try and improve the sound a bit!!!!!
To get a big booming sound you need a large, if not well baffled, muffler in my experience. The decat and muffler I had on my DVT sounded OK but to be honest, nowhere near as nice as the twin Yoshis on my mates SV1000. When I removed the electrolux size can from my DL1000, I put a 125mm dia and 450mm long free flowing muffler on and the sound was glorious!
I have run many 3 and 4 cylinder bikes in the past and I always changed the cans/systems to get a better sound. I gotta say, on the MS - the ones I have heard, all sound horrible with aftermarket cans cans fitted. They are noisier but unpleasantly so. This is the first bike I ever owned where I will not be likely to be changing either the pipes or the silencer from factory...unless there iS a can or decat you can point me at that does sound better and is not just louder ?
