why did you choose ducati ???

  1. Why did I choose Ducati? Lust, pure and simple

  2. because there red

  3. Had all sorts since the mid 90's and raced various bikes, some nice, some scary. When I decided to downsize the racing due to a young expanding family and go to minitwins the choices where SV650 or ER6........... I'd always wanted to race a Ducati and that was the excuse I needed to get the 800ss.

A few years on, I've now retired and I've kept the wee SS - it's a lifer now, I'll always keep it no matter what else I buy.

  4. I tend to feel it chose me

  5. Yup, lust here too! Longly looked at them for a while, then sat on an 1198 at Silverstone and that was that. Absolutely had to have one! Apart from the first hour or so it's all been good so far!

  6. Only been riding six year but had a few jap sports bikes, all amazing to ride but nothing stands out about them. Only had my bike a couple of days but now I wake up in the morning thinking I can't believe I own a ducati :)

  7. Oh Char, I'd choose you too:upyeah:

Buy an Optimate, mate. We all know the feeling...

    lmao : )

  9. had a rs125 past my test got a nc30 vfr400 ten got a gsxr 600 srad then my teenage dream a 916 the sound the feel the look and every thing that comes with it nearly 3 years on i still love her and cant see me ever getting rid im branded for life ducati

  10. I love the beautiful lines which make Itallian bikes so exotic. So for me I only buy Itallian unless its a commuting bike.
My last Ducati was back in 2004 but even after owning some gorgeous works of art I just didn't feel that they had the character of the Ducati. It's difficult to explain but even these 2 didn't compare:
So I went on a desperate search to find the same model Ducati I owned back in 2004 and fortunately I was able to find an immaculate example. The first mile on the 748R proved that nothing even comes close to owning and riding a Ducati.

  12. Went to a Bol D'or Race at Brands in late 70s. Was taken by the sight and sound of the Ducati bevel endurance racers. That day was a double for me. I vowed to learn to ride motorcycles (still trying mates say!), and wanted a Ducati. Got my 750S bevel in 1981, still got it. Always loved Ducatis. Always will. Ain't love grand!!!

  13. also add in your age in the posts fellas and fell'esses lol

its an interesting picture of why we are all finding attraction with the ducati.

    im 42.

lots of subliminaly sort of soul'ly and passion coming through the threads (haha)

interesting how no one has chosen so far the bike because of the selling points that the japs typically aim at.....
being massive hp and 0.53 kg lighter than last years model lol.

it seems in general we are more of a mature discerning lot who buy with desire and visual aesthetics in mind ....

yes the bikes have performance but not many here are playing on that aspect and it seems secondary in the general scheme of decisions.

for sure my k5 1k was powerful but dreadfully soulless. but when my 999s is parked I swear I have seen grown men gather round and cry looking at it :)

  15. Sound and looks.... and it's a very good bike overall (engine, handling etc), even if it's not the best, I don't care... it's better than anything I'll ever need anyway :)

  16. yes WHY did i buy it !!!!

  17. In the early 80s, bikes didn't come with clip-ons, rear sets and sport fairings as standard. You had to wait until the first GSXR 750 for the Japs to catch up with the Italians in that respect.

Ducatis were (and are) special, exclusive, fine handling. In those days, chassis were made of spaghetti, you had to have a Harris or Moto Martin frame kit to get a Jap bike to handle. The Pantah was probably one of the finest handling machines out of the crate this side of a Bimota. Frankly, at the time, Ducatis were a world away from what everyone was riding.

I wanted the looks, the handling, the exclusivity, the aura, the riding position, the whole shebang. For the last 28 years I've never not had a Ducati.

  20. I've always liked monsters and styling .
But I met someone with a very nice S4 and it looked great and sounded well amazing so I fell in love.
I also like Sports classic .
When I hear a Duc it's so distinctive my ears prick up and my mouth grins!
I finally found my perfect bike
