1199 Remap Options

  1. I used BSD back in the day to remap my ZX10R C1. Great job from them. Let me know how it goes Grayrobs, may take my 1299 up there. Is not too far from the OP also.
     
  2. Will do. I will be picking it up at the end of this week so it should be interesting to see the difference. Andy who is doing the work seemed to know exactly what it needs to improve the part throttle running. He will be removing/switching off the emissions controls, permanently opening the exhaust flap in the standard exhaust (need to be standard for MSV track use) and then remapping. He sounded very confident that this would make a big difference to its smooth running on the road. It all makes sense to me and Im sure that they will do a good job. A number of my friends have taken bikes there over the years and have all been very pleased with the outcome.

  4. Well, my 1199 is now re-mapped and I'll be picking it up at the weekend. BSD have it on their face book page as the first job of the year and were good enough to put a photo of the dyno chart on as well. I'm looking forward to getting it back, as it should be a big improvement from they tell me.

  5. This has been something I have been curious about regarding the 1199 and it's low speed throttle issues, is it really bad compared to the 1299? Anyone have any real world experience?

Its not terrible, but talking with Mark Brewin at BSD about how each bike came from the factory, he felt the 1299 had been developed more and improved on the mapping than when the 1199 was released. I have been hoarding Bike magazine for years and reading back from the 1199 launch review and the the subsequent real world road test, the throttle hunting on small openings was mentioned by the reviewer when on British roads. I haven't ridden a 1299 but would expect it to feel more like my re-mapped and emission removed 1199. I still think that any modern bike can be improved by a proper rolling road re-mapping session with the emissions kit disabled or removed. BUT you need to go to some one with the knowledge and experience of which there are a few companies around the country but not hundreds. From personal experience BSD Performance near Peterborough are very good.

  7. Intriguing... If I was to get an 1199 alot of riding would be on the road so would need her to "behave" so to speak!
    Sounds like a remap would be in order!
     
  8. The odds are you may need to, but trust me once its running without the emissions kit and re-mapped, it really is good. Just for information, BSD didn't remap the ignition map or ride by wire throttle map only the fuelling map. And it was a long way out in these part throttle situations.
