Been doing a little research and came across this thread indicating the production at Varese continued into 97. https://www.ducati.ms/threads/ducati-916-values.728073/page-2 Is that correct?
Indeed Lucky but also making my own luck. In the process of selling my NR750 and wanting to use part of the proceeds to buy a 1st year 916SPS and perhaps a 998R. Happy to post pics although dont have any forum friendly bikes at the moment and its snowboarding season right now. Best I can do are these of my NR750 with the original owner and after it was sent to the US for sale.
I like where your coming from, with two must have excellent choices there.Good luck with the search/chase for these all time beauties.
I don’t think they produced the 916 until ’97 in varese. And where do you see that in the topic on your link? Henk!!!
Hi Henk. Here is a screen shot from that link showing reported production numbers that I was referring to.I have no way of knowing if that data is correct hence my question. Adam at Iconic just sold this 95 with the 'V' in the VIN. Which corresponds to other info I have read. But Im just starting my education on these so have much to learn/confirm and appreciate all and any help. https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/1995-ducati-916-varese-2/
Totally agree and beautiful bikes. Clearly the source of inspiration for the 916 Im already suffering separation anxiety but it was always bought to flip and we will do OK out of it and hopefully end up with a couple low km red bikes too
Dohhhhhh my apologies one and all. Feeling kind of stupid right now. Was reading that heading over 1994 as covering all years under it as it appears relatively centred and thought it was merged cells on the spreadsheet. My bad entirely @henk.
As luck would have it I have found a 998R with 1 mile on it. Would be pushing it into the lounge room if we work a deal on it, with long term investment/something pretty to look at being the key drivers and buy an early 916 as a rider. I have spent the last couple days trying to discern where the market is on these, but with so few units its not easy. Its been years since one went through the auctions here in Japan and those online I have found include a bike with 6K miles that sold last year for $US26K, and 2 currently listed as 1.5K miles £29980 and another with 10K kms £23000. Any one care to chime in as to what this might be worth so I can make an informed decision on it?
Irresistible The 998r's in the UK at the moment are priced at dealers £29/30k,the Yorkshire specialists offered me one at £28k late last year,so there are deals out there to be had. Also three 916 sps on ebay at the minute for £17/18k.
