1260 No Display

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by essant, Feb 29, 2020.

  1. Started the bike today (2018 1260 Multistrada) after not being used for a while, started OK and everything appeared OK, apart from had 'battery low' showing.

Disconnected the battery, charged it up and reconnected. The dash/display didn't light up, but the bike started up OK, but indicators horn, main beam etc weren't working.

I've checked the two fuse boxes under the seat, and the main 30amp fuse and they are all OK. I also disconnected the battery again and checked that there wasn't a cable I hadn't reconnected.

I also tried starting using the button under the cowl in front of the tank, without success.

Is there some sort of setup I need to do following removing the battery, or another set of fuses somewhere that I've missed?

If not would appreciate any suggestions to rectify this.

    Many thanks.

  2. That rings a bell. I disconnected the battery once in my DVD and had similar results with the dash display, though I can't remember details.
I was due a service so took it to the dealer and to my embarrassment there was indeed a cable I'd left off. It might be worth another check..........

  3. Thanks for the response - I had a good look round and couldn't see anything, but I'll check again in daylight. I thought there were two cables - a 'main' one and another for the ABS.

  4. I took the battery out again this morning to make sure I hadn't missed a cable, all I can find is two cables going to battery positive, and one to negative (as in the picture) - nothing else.

I've checked all the under seat fuses, and checked that I've got voltage arriving at the dash fuses - all good.

I'd appreciate any other thoughts or suggestions, I'm about to take it out for a run round the block to see if riding it to the dealers is going to be an option.

    Thanks

  5. Be sure your battery is actually fully charged. If it indicated low it will need a good 10 or 12 hours to charge. Voltage must be over 12.5, anything below is not charged. Low batteries cause these kind of issues. low battery after storage of a few months could indicate a bad battery.

  6. Did you remove the battery when you charged it?
It’s quite easy to trap a cable under the battery when refitting, hence you might not be seeing it now?
    Just a thought..?

  7. For the future get a trickle charger and attach the tail to the battery. That solves the flat battery after parking for a while problem and avoids taking the battery out, which I'm led to believe will change the default values in the dash, i.e. from miles to Kilometers.

  8. Ever found out what the problem was? I also have the same issue. No display, but bike runs. Everything else works.

  9. The guy who started this thread was last on the forum over 2 years ago so you're probably out off luck on a response from him unfortunately.
