  1. That sounds like a great idea. I am in!

  2. its with the Revenue Commission people now for consideration. One of them rang me and asked me if VAT had been paid on the bike new in Italy and I said it had as far as I knew (19.5% on €32k!). The caller said that you cannot pay VAT twice on the same bike in an EU state - which was my argument exactly when paying the VRT!! It's now a case of whoever has the money has the power because they have my €3.2k and I am relying on common sense now to get it back!!

  3. i was told the mileage is mapped to the ECU and a new clock will only register the existing mileage?

  4. cant be on the ecu as we change them all the time.its in the clocks along with the security etc.......I think.

  5. I did try and warn you about this!

    EU is EU.

less than 6 months old or less than 6k klm = new bike thus full VAT Fat.

You can use a VAT411 in Europe to exonerate vat payment in one country and pay in the import country, however this is hard unless it is new or dealer demo.

  6. You did in fairness! I am now on a charm offensive to right this injustice and hopefully sense will prevail. In fairness to them, the fella dealing with my 'case' seems to be on my side if our phone calls are any gage of progress. Fingers crossed.

  7. Good luck.

It is a daft law. Especially as you could prove the vat was already paid.

I have bought a few bikes but like you got cought out on a 999R about 5 years ago. Luckly it was a track bike so didn't register it.

i bought a D16 new (without vat using the 411 form) from UK and when I went to pay the VAT at my local tax office in France the old dear nearly fell off her chair!

Let us know how you get on.

  8. That's an awesome bike, it really is, a real legend and out of all the bikes I own and have owned in the past, this is my favourite. Don't get me wrong, I love my Panigale but this is a real Ducati R, a real snarling beast of an animal and all the better for it.
