Aztec Spacers for 2013 model

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Aztec, Apr 17, 2013.

  1. I've just ordered the screen spacers from Aztec.

I'm currently using the shorty version of the Calsci screen ( Ducati Multistrada 1200 Windshields ), which is awful. Although I'm now aware that even those deluxe screens are useless without Aztec's solution.

So was wondering whether you guys thought that my current Calsci screen will be good once the screen spacers are installed, or can anyone recommend a better product? I'm only 5 ft 7" lol.

  2. where can i find the details for these spacers, i got money to send:upyeah:

  3. There may be a fairly major issue with the fitting of the 2013 spacers, Grrr sorry guys

  4. "looking at the screen mountings I think spacers will be difficult to fit for either screen due the curvature of the screen and the angle of the bolts". From a previous post. If you can find a away to get some angled spacers then I would like to try them out but not as easy on the 2013 screen as it was on the 2010 models. Good luck and hope you can find a fix.

  5. I have looked in the "for sale" section but have not found any of the screen spacers for sale! Has the "fairly major issue" been resolved regarding the fitting of these spacers on the 13 year model with the 4 fixings?

  6. I'm afraid the fitting problems due to the curvature of the screen mean that any straight spacers alter the fixing centres, thus making spacers useless, I have no time at the moment to resolve this issue I'm afraid

  7. Thanks for the update Dave.

The 2013 standard screen is not too bad as it has minimal to no buffeting for me but the airflow hits the top of the visor producing excessive wind noise, I have installed the GT screen which has totally eliminated the slight buffeting experienced on the standard screen but still produces an airflow which now hits the top of the helmet with the associated wind noise, I think your spacers would produce the ideal combination with both screens as I believe the issue is the airflow which needs directing higher via an adjustment to the angle of the screen, keep us updated if you find the time to try and resolve, I am sure there will be enough interest to warrant your efforts.

  8. Well, 3,000 miles in under two months. The GT screen seems ok to me but bear in mind this is my first experience of any screen, and my last bike was an 07 Speed Triple and the one before that was a Laverda Jota with a half fairing that you had to tuck in under to get any benefit.

I do notice buffeting at high speed (on the track obviously!) but nothing unbearable. And I can avoid it almost completely by ducking done a couple of inches. (I'm 6ft 2in and long in the back).

I'd be interested to hear the views of others with more experience of screens as to whether the improvement felt when using spacers is worthwhile.

  9. Thanks for the update . I have Aztecs on my 2011 and they made a huge improvement . I have only test ridden the 2013 , but the screen seems to be a lot better for some reason?
But when you get onto it I would be up for a set for the 2013 when they're ready . Cheers Dave

  10. It's work in progress but don't hold your breath

  11. 2013 screen spacers

Been looking through the various threads on screen spacers to reduce wind noise from the screen when all mention of them abruptly stops have I missed something. Is wind noise no longer an issue or is it that they cannot be made due to the curvature of the screen.

I can tolerate the wind noise (fingers in the ears) its the left to right unnerving wobble or shimmy of the helmet not nice. (the helmet is an AGV with back deflection fin) This only seems to happen on motorway with wind in your face letting go of the throttle seems to be the only way to relieve it but I don't want to throttle back every time there's a bit of wind given that we are surrounded by wind.

    Any new ideas

  13. Yes drop Dave aka Aztec a PM ;-)

    ....threads merged :D

  14. Its not all to do with the screen...

Shoei xr1000..loads turbulence, but not too noisy
Shoei xr1100..very little turbulence, more noise
Arai chaser..no turbulence, fairly quiet, more draught around eyes from under chin area.
The last AGV I had was absolute rubbish for noise and turbulence. Not a patch on the top end AGV I had a few years back. (Q something?)

If I stand on the pegs so completely in clean air, no noise.

Ignore all of the above on a gusty, windy day..its just plain noisy.

What I have found is that the with the screen up, rain is pushed down and off the helmet visor and my passenger reports less turbulence. Also next to no fly spatters on visor. I like the screen down when making progress on twisty roads as it distracts me when up.
    Win some, lose some :)

I suspect a Vario screen may be perfect compromise thus giving multiple options for air flow with the adjustable fin. Made a big difference on my 08 Fz1s. Couldn't see one listed for the 2013 Multi when I last checked .

  15. Vario on Aztec spacers with "little side wings" is the best compromise I have found. (2010 bike)

  16. Any luck with the 2013 spacers?
    Cheers andy

  17. Last I heard plans had been shelved...........Dave doesn't frequent the forum that often, if you want a notification about any post/thread to go out to another member include'@theirusername' ;-)
    @Aztec

  18. Thanks andyw!

  19. Are these available for the 2015 DVT? How do i buy them? thank you

  20. My own experiences on a 2013 S is that running a Pikes Peak style screen is WAY quieter than a GT screen. I can run my intercom at a significantly lower volume for a given speed with the lower screen. The trade-off is more buffeting, but it's bearable. For reference, I'm 6ft 2 tall.
