HI, I HAVE REPLACE MY TYRES WITH SC1/ SC2 :SUPERCORSA"S, AND I AM WONDERING WHAT PSI TO RUN THEM ON FRONT AND REAR FOR ROAD RIDING???? MANY THANKS!!
This is a good question I've just bought some sc2's for my 748R so advise would be great?? Come on someone must kno a good starting point for road riding??
I've just received my new 848 and it comes with Supercorsa SP. So here is what the manual says about the pressure : - Front tyre pressure 2.1 Bar - 2.3 Kg/sq.cm - Rear tyre pressure 2.2 Bar - 2.4 Kg/sq.cm Bla bla bla re cold tyres when checking... And the funny part is : "To avoid front wheel rim distortion, when riding on bumpy roads, increase tyre pressure by 0.2 - 0.3 Bar." As if we were going to use those tyres off road! Anyway just telling you what's written in the manual! Hope that helps.
Suggest the following. Check owners manual. Check tyre manufacturer website Otherwise go as per Pisces (lifted from manual) or if else fails start with 32 psi front 34 psi rear for road and adjust for what feels right for you. If you're doing a lot of mway miles go up by another 1 or 2 psi. Better still - junk the Pirellis for the road and go Michelin. PRESSURE CONVERSION CHART PSI-BAR
My manual (1198) say the same as Pisces but when set the front feels like the headrace is bollox'ed ! these are the lowest settings i have come across on a bike. Generally its 36 F 42 R some big ones like the zzr14/busa etc are 42/42. My mate thinks dukes have lower pressures because they are ridden so much faster and the tyres get hotter than most bikes, yeh right lol
Is it absolutely correct that Dukes run pressures lower than Jap IL4s and indeed many other bikes. If your handling is dodgy at the correct pressures then there are three-ish possible reasons....1) you're still on Pirellis which need much warmer temps than we are currently experiencing to work on the road (hence why a lot of folks change their Supercorsas to e.g. Michelin) or 2) you need your suspension set up professionally or 3) a combination of 1) and 2).
So - that'll be 3 then. Good move - best investment before any bling purchases and the best 1 hrs labour you can buy.
31psi front, 29 rear. If you are using warmers, for track use, 35psi ex warmers and 24 rear. These are for solo riding....
