Hi Guys whilst blasting home on the blackbird yesterday I found myself distracted by a futuristic Batman type motorbike. Now this was a strange yet interesting machine, it didn't have a proper numberplate and it was displaying a Department of Transport tax type disc which was fitted centrally to the number plate so I decided to ride behind the guy until we approached a set of lights. I had to ask the question "what is that"? It seems that he was road testing the bike which is not yet available in the UK Heres the bike: Saietta R Electric Motorcycle
The Agility Saietta in the UK is around £11,900 for the 'S' model but for the 'R' Bike with free delivery you'll be looking at around £16,950, in the US the 'S' model comes in around $20,000 but the faster 'R' is around $26,000.
"I dunno what the Hell's in there but it's weird and pissed off whatever it is." It really does look weird and pissed off.
Looks like its come straight from 'concept' and into production. The comment about when it passed by spectators in almost silence going up Goodwood following the other noisy exhaust race motorbikes and people 'sniggered' aka laughed is pathetic and small minded. Thats the problem, changing peoples perception of what a motorbike should be like will be the biggest hurdle.
By the looks of it the designers may not have given much thought to fitting a tank top bag, or a top box, or panniers. Which is OK for a superbike, but hopeless for a town runabout.
My thoughts exactly..........orrible thing....................and to echo Pete.........NFU around town......... .....and on an open road, first high wind, splat. AL
Quite astonishingly hideous. Be different by all means, but why make something so pig ugly? Even if it was a fabulous bike, I would never have one. And Pete's point about practicality is very apt. So not only does it look foul, it's not even function over form.
Hmm, maybe all the bulk is for the battery pack? If so, would be too top heavy. i guess the designer was a big Star Wars fan, given it looks a bit like one of these; B2 grapple droid - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki
I've had a spin round a car park on the Saietta, and believe me it's bloody quick off the mark. The CEO has been promising me a test ride for ages but somehow it's never happened. I bumped into him at a hotel in north London and had a blat round the car park on it. Aside from the novelty looks and the odd motive power, the thing has been designed to handle; I reckon it'd be a blast to ride.
I think it looks quite funky. And it seems to be able to shift and handle too. Could be the shape of things to come.
