1098s running like a tractor? Help

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by THJ, May 5, 2013.

  1. My 1098s is running but accelerates really slowly even on full throttle, feels like I'm riding a tractor!
I have had both spark plugs out cleaned them up and still no joy.
Bike starts every time. No fault on display, but service indicator is on (12,000 mile due)
Any ideas of what to try next?
I just wanted a blast before i lose it for a week while serviced.

  2. fuel filter.

  3. TPS Sensor?

  4. Possibility that the engine is only firing on 1 cylinder.

Easy enough to check if this is the case. Remove one of the cylinders coil pack connectors, if the bike won't run at all now, it's the other cylinder at fault. Double check by removing the other cylinders coil pack connector, and if it runs like it has been you have identified which cylinder isn't working.

  5. Sounds like its running on one cylinder.

  6. Splash some water on each manifold to check which one isn't running.
