  4. I understand you are totally gutted and now you want to fullfil your ego with revenge XD
...but I don't quite get what you're trying to gain by giving sh*t to Ducati on a forum where people f*ckin love Ducati!
Have you decided to also hate Ducati owners? :p
Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience, but your drastic reaction makes me laugh a bit :D

Now feel free to go around talking bad about Ducati... ah, don't forget to open a new thread on your next forum!!! (good chances of becoming popular rigth away)

    Take it easy man ;)

  5. I came from Triumph, ditched them because all the error came after first winter period. Cracked ligths, coolant leak, open engine, workshop unable to get the right gaskets for the engine - 3 attempts before the right came, eating the battery, not able to get used to the handling - i've had nuff of "British Quality", and now ride a Multistrada 1200 ABS. Lovely compared to the Triumph!

  6. I can kind of sympathise with the OP. I have suffered "most" of the niggles with my 2010 in the last 3 years (on June 12th), but largely overlooked them as the bike is generally so brilliant to ride, if not own?

However, I just had my VED reminder for the end of May, which gave me pause to note that as of Friday coming, my bike will have been off the road waiting for new cylinder heads for 19 weeks - I may as well of SORN'ed it!!!

Not sure where this will leave me as I don't really want to take the massive depreciation on the chin (£8k ish?), but if it drops the ball one more time, I'm sure I will also get rid?

  7. Well this seems like a good place to introduce myself, I have just sold my vfr1200, it was totally flawless, never used a drop of oil and started in the button, every time, even after months sitting redundant in the garage. I am just about to purchase a 2011 multi, even after reading more than one posts like this. I am doing this as the Honda just didn't excite me, it was ridiculously fast and agile (for a brute) but I rarely felt the desire to just get on and ride the thing. I am going for the ducati as when I went for a test ride, I didn't want to come back, so no, it's not a decision of the head, I just hope it doesn't break my heart!

So hi to you all, waiting for a call from the dealer tomorrow to arrange a handover date, and I can't wait!! :)

ps Dave, the vfr really was a great bike, I would recommend you try one

  8. I can understand how the OP feels. I had the same trials and tribulations with an Aprilia and a friend had it with a Triumph.

However, i don't think there are bad manufacturers as such, just the occasional bad bike in the system.

It's how problems, if any, are sorted that is the key. Aprilia and their dealer could not give a toss in my case so i wont go near another Aprilia.

  9. Oh and as to the VFR1200, reformedrebel, i tried one of these and it was very competent and very fast but bland as bland can be.

I was expecting a V4 to be something special and different but it felt like just another IL4 and drank fuel at an alarming rate.

  10. I'm sorry to hear that Dave has parted company with his multi after all his issues

But if they are any people reading this thread and been put off by what they hear, I can only say I absolutely love my multi!!!

It's a 2010 model to, so yes it's had it's fair share of recalls, but hey.. Is that a bad thing?? Fitted a qd exhaust system very early on and had a remap by CJS, and never looked back. Some may say I shouldn't have to have a remap or change the exhaust, but I've lost count of how many bikes I've had, and how many after market exhausts I've fitted....

Got nav, heated grips, optional panniers, changed hoops for something sticker when originals wore out, only cause it will never go off road

It's super comfy, great for touring, and enough power to stay with any sports bike, unless it's ridden by a hero pilot! Great bike for a pillion, great view point been a bit higher for overtakes and sight seeing, easy city commute, easy to ride fast, lots of grunt. For me I couldn't wish for a better bike!!

If your unsure about buying one, all I can say is....

GO AND RIDE ONE 1st !!!!!!!

  11. Most things with an engine/ electrics and wheels with a guarantee or warranty attached will fail or have warranty issues at some point or other. If you don't think you won't with any other mode of transport, your living in 'Cloud Cuckoo' land.

If don't want any warranty worries or problems, learn to use Shank's Pony or the Bus.

Now shut the door on your way out and good riddance and arrivi-derci .!.

  12. Why all the negative comments guys! The OP was only sounding off about the shite time he's had with what should be a quality bike. I'd be pissed off too if it was mine

  13. Oh well, just for some balance, I've owned a motley collection of bikes from Japanese two stroke twins, 4 cylinder Japan and my current steed, a 15 year old 900 SS ie. The Ducati is just as reliable as Amy other bike I've ridden in my riding career (17 years and probably 80,000 miles)

Wonder how much is down to careful warm up and fastidious maintenance and cleaning...

    Excellent point!

  15. Think expectations have a large part to play. I wouldn't dream of taking bikes back for what many do; flakey paint after a winter, furry fasteners, bit of rust here or there. Where as some will stomp back because it doesn't do 50mpg

But OP entitled to an opinion folks

  16. Unlucky Dave, I've had cars like that too. You should post the Registration number so no-one else buys it. ;)

  17. That's fine Bradders, but if your gonna have a public rant on a bike forum about a particular manufacturer. Then the OP will have to accept a backlash or negativity from the rest of us.

  18. Well, I have a ’10 plate 1100 monster so as far as the Multi issues I am not in a position to comment. However, the build quality of my Ducati is easily on par with the 1200gs I owned. I was and am happy with both the bikes, so although you are not best pleased, I think the Ducati slight is amiss.
I wish you a better ride with the Jap4, Subaru EVO type crowd….
    :upyeah:

  19. Meh, my Duke keeps going wrong too.

I changed my mind about getting rid though.

When it breaks, I'm very annoyed.

But when it's full throttle, roaring like a wild beast and charging past 4x4s on the motorway with the kids inside smearing their noses across the window trying to see where the noise is coming from...it's then that I know I'm riding a super turd and there's nothing else like it, bar another duke.

Edit: my bike is 10 years old so it's not surprising it breaks
