Staintune cans

  1. Termis for GT 1000 now difficult to get. Anyone used staintunes?

  2. I've got them on mine,I think they look and sound better than termis on the GT.

  3. Each to their own, I have the Termis on my GT. You could try posting on the Ducati.ms site if you want to check price/availability of Termis, I seem to recall the Termis may still be available from some suppliers in the US.

  4. Would they fit the Sport Classic Biposto as well - I have pipes on my mind at the moment.

Actually I guess the answer is 'yes' Any idea of a US supplier?

Also Staintunes is new to me...hmmm

  5. I have Staintunes on my MH,not quite as noisy as the Termis but very good sound and very good quality. They are made in Australia. There is/was a UK distributor-you will probably need to check the manufacturers website for distribution details and if they still do them for your model.

  7. When I had a VFR, Staintunes were very highly regarded for quality and sound

  8. Thanks for the references all .... but *gulp* £1600 ....

    Ah well....

  9. Only just realised they are in Oz as well - silly me. Looks like the shipping will bump the price up a fair bit too...

  10. Has anyone got experience of Keihan on a sportclassic?

  11. Hi, I have the keihan cans on my 06 GT, pic in thread, everything else is stock, it runs fine, they look great, sound great but they're bloody loud! I do have the baffles but they don't make much difference. The quality is very good and they clean up beautifully. Well worth it for the money imo.

  12. Hi Scott , I'm a bit confused because on their website Keihan say that "Noise output is comparable to the original silencer" but ,as you say, yours are loud - are they omly saying that to keep the EU legislators off their backs?

  13. Noticed the hugger on your GT - where did you find this useful addition?

  14. Umm, I've had them for a few years now.
They are louder than stock but the baffles take the edge off the noise a bit, if your worried about noise then Termi's are the cans to avoid, a GT with Termi's was the loudest bike I've ever heard-totally drowning out the desmosedici sitting next to it at the same time.

  15. Hi Dave - I must admit I'm a bit of a hooligan as maximum noise actually attracts me

It's a bit of nostalgia on my part as my first real sportsbike was a Moto Guzzi Le Mans Mk2 with a fantastic set of La Franconis on it - used to set off car alarms as i rode along the street it was that loud.

This was in the early 80's when I was even dafter than I am now but the glorious memory of blatting through the Blackwall tunnel with the sound making your ears bleed still stays with me. Daft isn't it?

The loudest bike I ever had was a 1985 Triumph Tiger (Harris built). It was an ex Royal Signals display bike with nigh on open pipes.Fifteen minutes of riding in slow traffic would make your ears ring more than any AC/DC concert you went to.

Mind you not a single driver cut me up because he didn't know I was there!

  16. That's interesting, with the standard cans its very quiet, you can hear the engine more than anything else, the keihans make it sound like a chinook, sounds amazing. Even with the baffles in its still very loud, much louder than standard. I go thorough the Blackwall tunnel every day it sounds blooming brilliant!

  17. Scott I'm going to get some Keihans I think - on a cost basis alone plus they still look well made ( and they are in the UK) prefer them in matt black but will take the shiney ones if not available.

    Thanks! :upyeah:

  18. Just ordered the Keihans after investigation - very reasonable and Mark at Keihans owns the 1000S on their website picture - very nice guy - says they are loud :)upyeah:)

Oh - just thought - I have a Bikesafe course booked with the Metropolitan Police boys ... better change them back before I do it !
