1200 DVT Cruise Control/gear Display Error

  1. Hi All,

    Just wanted to check if anyone experienced similar issues with MTS 1200 DVT.:?
    Cruise control is working fine in 3 gear and 30mph ... but if I shift up to 6 gear the display go only up to 5th gear... ( I am sure that the gearbox is at 6th gear):mad:o_O... Not only that the display stop showing the right gear I am in when going higher then 3th but the cruise control also stoped working :cold_sweat:.

    Apart of that everything is working correctly!!
     
  2. if I am reading your post correctly, why would you want to be in 5th or 6th gear doing 30mph???

    I don't think the bike will let you at that speed as it as it would be low to a void stalling
     
  3. No ..:p... I mean if I am in the 3th gear and cruise control is on 30mph it works correctly.

    Only if I go up in gears the display on my MTS Shows only up to 5th gear (display only) and the cruise control is not working
    then ..
    Sorry for my language I am European :laughing:
     
  4. Sounds to me like your GPI - Gear Position Indicator has started to fail. Easy swap, not so easy on the wallet. It’s located on the back of the gearbox

    So you had a similar problem before ? Did your cruise control also not work in higher gears ?
     
  8. Mines a 2012 so I don’t have cruise control. The dash started lying about what gear I was in though! I changed it because when they really fail, it also affects the signal to ECU which can affect fuelling/running.

  12. LOL, I have a 2010 with the gpi playing silly buggers, I have two 4th gears and 5th :)

  13. Easy swap ? Dont need any special tools?

  15. Ah ha, recalibration you say, didn't know there is a calibration process, able to share mate?
     
  16. I would put money on it being faulty. The only special tool is a deep socket with a slot in it to enable you to avoid the cable. I made my own by grinding a slot in a Normal deep Socket.
     
  17. There are some adjustments that can be made but only by a dealer.

  19. Kam how did you start the calibration process?
    Getting it show C and the neutral light flashing?
