Managed to break the DP carbon fibre tail unit - the right indicator pulled right through the carbon when I had a little moment in the shed. Found a replacement standard unit in Lithuania for £50, and bought all new bolts, grommets, washers and nuts from Ducati Alton - brilliant as usual, big shout to Nick at Snells. I actually like the look of the standard unit and am NOT tempted to do the seemingly obligatory tail chop! All the standard fittings were corroded to hell and snapped off when I tried to remove the old tail.
After doing tail unit, started and warmed up the oil, and got very frustrated at not being able to go out on it!
Can't be arsed basically. It probably could be fixed if I had the time or the skill. I wouldn't say it was great quality, despite being a DP part. Very flimsy - It certainly didn't withstand being bashed against the wall of my shed!
The amazing thing was that Snells had the grommets, spacers and nuts all in stock! And cheap for Ducati parts. I know I could have just scavenged around on Ebay for pattern bits, but why bother when you can get Ricambi Originale?
No, fell sideways as I removed the rear paddock stand, as I had a block under the side stand that was a little too tall - luckily stopped from going over completely by the shed wall, but smashed the right indicator off. No other damage amazingly.
It's amazing sometimes when Ducati just do cheap reasonable spares,a shock to the system when this happens.
Holly shit these things happen on the odd occasion,i dropped a CBR600 when lifting it up on the centre stand once many moons ago (misstimed the lift with the right foot),but got away with it as it fell on some cardboard boxes left in the garage.
