Which one should you choose, prices are almost equal. A) MTS 1200 S touring + leo vinci exhaust + tuning (2010 - 64 000 km - 39 000 miles ) For sale from a ducati dealership with 1 year guarantee. Last desmo service at 48 000 km - 30 000 miles B) MTS 1200 S Sport + touring option + standard exhaust + ECU tuning (2011 - 50 000 km - 31 000 miles ) For sale from a private person, so no guarantee. Last desmo service at 48 000 km - 30 000 miles A or B ? Thanks
Its a bit hard to tell mate. It would depend how they were ridden and how they were maintained. On the face of it Id go for the 2011 and buy an exhaust.
A will need a service if you use it Mitch on the next year, which would be a grand, so I’d be inclined (if cond and FSH same for both) to go private and buy a independent warranty (if they have them where you are)
If you can negotiate the next service included in the purchase price or at a discounted rate, go with the dealer. If not the private sale is better IMHO.
I’m surprised a Ducati dealer is offering a 10 year old Multistrada through the dealership. It is not something I have ever seen in the UK. Not sure what the warranty is the dealer is offering but it is very unlikely to be backed by Ducati, not on a bike that age and mileage. You can never be certain about a bike with that sort of mileage but if it were my money, I’d lean towards the the lower mileage, standard bike. Andy
One important question, for any Multistrada of that era and mileage, is whether it has had the "porous" cylinder head castings replaced under warranty. If there is evidence that the heads have indeed been replaced, that's good; if not, proceed with extreme caution. If you don't know what I'm talking about, inform yourself.
