I hate to see folk ride around like that, reckon they only do it once though. I had an off as a teenager scraped knees went straight through my jeans. Detoll and a scrubbing brush to clean it up and out, never ride again without leathers or some other form of protection.
Nah I've met loads of large folks over the years. A jolly bunch usually. Mind you I never asked how their wanking or judging was going...
Well, as one of those (don’t think we’ve met tho) most would probably say similar of me in most cases. Laughing, smiling, piss taking. Having a laugh. I can assure you I’m right.
I would say most folk have a public persona which isn't always a true representation of 'who' they really are and is just superficial, not everything should be taken at face value.
With all the bikes & racing, laughing, working, smiling, being on the forum, piss taking, having a laugh, fucking with the car, making things, sorting out stuff for your son, shagging the missus, Im surprised you have to for it TBH. We'll meet one day and we can do a Laurel & hardy impersonation. I'm a skinny a barstardo.
Probs with the hols and scoots most seem to be riding them for the first time lol, I certainly wouldn't bother hiring 1. Spend a hefty some on holiday only to get road washed in the first few days. Thanks but no thanks
I always wear protective gear in the UK. When I lived in Mexico I never worn protective gear except a full face because you can't see otherwise when riding really fast. In south east asia or the pacific islands when I rented bikes there wasn't any protective gear! The truth is most people are the same as the Mexicans, southern Italians, or Spanish. If you lived there, in the heat, you wouldn't wear gear.
I hired a scooter in Turkey. Me and the Mrs went all over the shop. In shorts and t shirts. It was bloody marvellous No one bats an eye lid regarding PPE. But if I do it here the ‘holier than thou’ brigade are all over it. The fuckers.
Never gave it a thought back in the 60s/70s when even helmets were optional (so we didn't bother most of the time). Just used to throw a leg over, kick it up and go. Wouldn't dream of getting on a motorbike these days without all the gear. Seen too much and lost too many mates in the interrim ......although one (my mate Terry Mead RIP) did go over the cliff at Ramsgate, so I don't suppose any ammount of PPE would have done him any good
aye, there is a lot of mixed messages going on here. lilve and let live, as long as you live my way. gossip mongers and curtain twitchers everywhere.
For me the issue is to what degree as adults, do we allow ourselves to be told what to do? Personally I wear all the gear when I ride, it’s my choice because other than the helmet, it’s not law, but it keeps the wife (relatively) happy, but tbh if on the odd occasion, I could ride without it, I might do so. The Doctors issue is a red herring. Doctors & nurses are obliged to help heal & put people back together, it’s the very point of them. Whether the patient is requiring that help because they’ve ridden a bike (legally) without full leathers & come off or because they’ve spent 40yrs (legally) smoking or (legally) eating Burgers 3 times a day is not the point. They’re supposed to help, so telling a biker to F off because he’s not been wearing full race leathers is not OK
Its rather interesting that the Sikhs were clever enough and resistant as a group to stop their rights being eroded and no other group, particularly the vast majority were able to do so. Viva Sikhs!
Funny old work just seen a bloke on a white R1 with flashy white leathers , bare ankles & white tennis shoes
Well. that has helped: I start a rant about a dickhead wearing shorts on a bike and the consensus is..errr…. absolutely no consensus. Glad I've cleared that one up...……...
