1200 DVT Tank Rubber Removal

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by knightrider, May 11, 2020.

  1. Does anyone know how to remove the big rubber ball protector thing from the tank ? Getting the tank painted and think the job would be better if this could be removed. TIA

  2. a fine fishing line ? get it under the lip then move it up and down as you go from one side to the other.

  3. Have you looked at the parts list on Ducati.com ? If it shows the pad as a separate item, chances are it will come off easily but if not, might be best to get your sprayer to mask it. Andy

  4. a HA ... that should work Cheers:upyeah:

  5. No separate part# Andy so good shout... I'll ask the sprayer tomorrow and go with what he suggests :upyeah:

  6. When I picked my bike up from new, the rubber had marks all over it which could not be removed. I told the dealer that I wanted it changing because I could not live with it being marked. Ducati replaced the whole tank. So not possible to remove without causing untold damage .

It should mask up without problems for your paint job.
    Good luck
