All set for an early start tomorrow and then to Holyhead for the ferry to Dublin. Gentle run down to Kerry on Saturday for a week of touring... Any suggestions on places of interest to visit?
West Cork and Kerry are great, Beara Penninsula, Adridole to Lauragh over the Healy Pass, on to Kenmare, Sneem, ring of Kerry, Ballinskelligs,Valentia Island by Portmagee and back on the ferry to Caherciveen. Dingle Penninsula,Connor Pass. Ferry from Tarbert to Killimer in Clare and out to Loop Head coast road to Lahinch and cliffs of Moher, coast road to Fanore, Ballyvaughan, corkscrew hill to Lisdoonvarna, through the Burren. Galway, Roundstone ,Clifden, Connemara. The whole of the west coast is brilliant right up to Donegal.
Just avoid Killarney town at all costs. Full of Americans searching for their roots and overpriced tourist tat. If you get as far as Mayo, the sky road is amazing. Hope you have some good waterproofs! If you have never tasted Guinness as it should be, you are in for a real treat.
I'll be based near Kenmare for the week & have no great desire to explore Killarney. So it'll be Beara peninsula, ring of kerry and surrounding areas - waterproofs are ready to hand to go over supposedly waterproof jacket! I'm a realist - I know its will rain!
Well if you are based in Kenmare the Clare coast is just 2 hrs away. Also go south to Bantry and out to Schull, Mizen head and be sure to go to Crookhaven.
