Hi my wife has a 2019 monster 821 stealth ,its only got 300 miles on it and yet to have the first service but I noticed after our first ride this year the chain was very lose,so I tried to ajust it ,ive got the 1200r which is a doddle to do but everything was fine untill it come to tightening the chain ajusters to 10nm ,if you try to tighten clock wjse to torque the circlip pops off and if you try anti clock wjse the chain tightens even wjth spindle tightened to spec of 180 nm ,ive got 5 other bikes and do chain ajust on them nk problem ,just bit baffeled with this one ,any help would be great .
Something is not right there. The adjusters are only for moving the wheel position with the axle nut loose to adjust the chain tension. With the axle nut tightened to 180 Nm there is no way that these wee screws should be able to move the wheel. Are the wheels spacers fitted correctly? My Scrambler has similar adjusters, I just nip them tight after tightening the axle nut.
All I did was losen the axel nut enough to ajust and re tighten ,wheel never came out so spacers must be still there ,do your ajusters have the circlips and did ylu tighten clockwise to 10 nm ?
Yes the adjusters have circlips but I've never torqued them, just nipped them up till they feel right. The axle nut should stop any wheel movement, even at 10 Nm on the adjusters.
I know its an old post ....but I'm having this very same issue with mates 821 stealth ..... Do we know what was the outcome...? @nelly The circlips are "tired" ...so I guess a new pair are in order
Any known issues with this bike re chain tensioner.....?. I did notice that the rear wheel spindle torque increased on this year 821. ..
